  • the reason i dislike him is 1st he is overrated, second he loves to bitch..okay he may have won 1 world title but that doesnt make him a legend..he won because of the car..the williams at that time was the best car on the grid..see his performance when he was driving for honda..what a joke..and now, all he does is go on the media and bitch as if his the best..although some of you may say shumacher is a cheater,i have to agree on that part, but he has shown his capabilities in inferior cars..

  • 5 people are either girls or faggots !

  • Murray and Martin: the best commentators of them all.

  • Renault engine superior

  • haha i love murray walker explaining paddle shifters for the first time

  • Le son feutré du Renault est sublime..

  • shumi suck, jacques fly go to win!!!! from italy

  • schumacher whit FW19 and jacques whit f310b(barnardwheelbarrow)...en plein for schumy,probably..

  • jacques villeneuve the BEST driver... GO JACQUES GO GO GO

  • great lap!

  • he wasn't brutally quick like his dad....he was a lot smarter and calmer tho....gilles was a joy to watch....as was jacques

  • Comment removed

  • he lost 4/100 th sec on shummi on that lap! :-P

  • I disagree with JMF1iscool. I personally thought Jacques was good rather than very good (in f1 driver terms) and made a meal of the 1997 season. Schumacher had an obviously lesser car and deserved it more. Jacques was never really super gifted. You cannot say he 'lost it' after 1997. A driver cannot suddenly loose pace. He simply shown his true ability in a midfield car. He was not the brutally quick driver his father was.

  • Great driver 1996 - 1998

From 1999 - 2006... i dont know why he was like that.....

  • I agree with yourself

  • it's called 'flexing'....his latter years were all spent in cars that 'flex' or 'warp' under hard braking and acceleration...that translates into ; understeer while approaching a corner, and oversteer on the way out....'flex' cars are only good in the rain...

  • I love this track. Thanks for posting.

  • I love that camera angle. They should bring it back.

  • they do have the over the shoulder camera still :\

  • @nickcsbr they have it with Alonso now I guess

  • thus schumacher win a championship!

  • Hey courage as a pilot with the father Gilles.

  • Ah I loved it when Murray was on. And I loved Jerez.

And I loved the tag heur graphics XD

Murray telling of a more boring future on this vid in regards to less driver input. :(

  • Villeneuve has to be one of the biggest jokes in f-1 history. He was lucky enough to drop straight in the best car, then moped around and stupidly commited to BAR. He doesn't have any testing talent, basically a very lazy driver. In a phrase, he simply took his racing career and flushed it down the toilet. I challenge anybody to prove me wrong.

  • Well what was he supposed to do? I don't think he had any other options for 1999. Even Frank Williams didn't know he'd get the BMW contract then, so for Jacques it was either stay at a team that was now weak, or start something new. Hindsight is a beautiful thing. Also, I wouldn't say he doesn't have any testing ability, I think he played a part in getting BAR competitive for 04, but he can't do it all on his own. Remember, he was able to drag that awful BAR to the podium a couple times.

  • He just didn't have many choices for 99 because nobody fancied having him+Pollock+ his own big mouth in any team. When you drive in f1, you become a product, sponsors fork up the cash and you have an image to project. Remember him with his blond hair mixed with purple??? Not very serious. Williams had enough of this and his lazyness in testing and he was not Alain Prost tech-wise. The BAR stagnated for 5 years catching the lucky occasional podium.

  • And his public comments about the governing body combined with a questionable rebellious attitude was way off line in the highest calibre of motorsport on the planet. Just look at him today and it clearly speaks for itself. He made it in f-1 because his illustrious father opened doors for him rendering the Villeneuve name to instant success. He was world champion, sure, but tell me where does his name figure in motorsport history??????I hear crickets....

  • I agree that he was often very outspoken, sometimes to his own detriment. Thing is, all the top teams were satisfied with their driver lineups for 1999. Mclaren won both titles with Mika, and had a solid number 2 in Coulthard. Ferrari had Schumacher, and a good number 2 in Irvine. Jacques wouldn't take the Ferrari seat even if it was offered, because it was a contracted number 2 seat. Pretty much the same thing with Mclaren. It's similar to Fernando's situation now.

  • Well, you are right on many things byddy supra, but when a top driver is free to drive for anybody, doors suddenly open up and a seat will become vacant, believe me my friend. Sure, Villeneuve has some racecraft and talent, no doubt, but I find him very overrated. Winning Indy is an achievement, but not in his period. By 1995, indycar had lost much of it's glorious lusture and the crop of drivers were way down quality wise.

  • Anyways, you can't win an F1 world championship if you aren't a great driver, no matter if the Williams was the best car. His record is amazing, with the Indy title and 500 win. He'll probably add to his already stellar resume, with a win at the 24 hours of Lemans in the future. Just don't count on a championship in Nascar, lol.

  • All I want to say here is that he made some very bad career choices, and you can't erase the past. Today, and forever, he will have to live the weight of those mistakes. He's having the hardest time finding a drive, even nascar is eluding him. At least, he made sound investments with his fortune from racing. But I will add that his racing helmet colors were the most disgusting I ever saw in f-1, simply mad....LOL

  • So what lazerpod66? Most successful motorsports drivers have had connections. Damon Hill, Schumi,...etc. You idiot! He won the F1 championship, and in my opinion, Schumacher should have been banned permanently for that move in Jerez. Please tell me...who was Schumi's competition when he won most of those titles? I hear crickets. Especially the last 3? And when he got competition with Alonso, Alonso made him look like shit(San Marino). Jacques was a phenomenal driver. Let's see Shumi in a BAR.

  • For your information, Schumacher is in my book the absolute worst cheat in the history of the sport, and I still stand by my opinion about Villeneuve, sorry to didagree, and show some respect before unloading insults. My knowledge about f-1 is much more than you think.....

  • YOu're the one dissing VIlleneuve--I find that insulting. I personally dont like him...but he should get a lot more credit than what you're giving him. It's realy a shame that drivers such as Jeff Gordon publibly voice their "concern" over Villeneuve racing in NASCAR so soon. Villeneuve could school all of them, so why is it an issue? You bring up some good points, but he would probably have been more successfu had his father been alive. Jacques opened his own doors by winning indycar championsh

  • If he was that good, his career would taken a much different turn towards success. His father opened almost all doors to him, once in the best car, almost anybody can be good, remember Mika Salo in germany 1999??? He almost won it. He was an average driver, nothing special, alot of people disagree with you bud. If you drive a top car, you will succeed, proven fact.

  • Then who are the good drivers as opposed to the average ones lazerpod66? In the last 15 years, name me one of your personal "good" drivers in Formula1. Schumacher, no. Hakinnen, maybe. Maybe Alonso or Hill? I don't understand. What makes a championship driver such as Villeneuve average besides what you have already said? Some drivers will do anything for an F1 title(Schumi in 94 99?) So what? Are you saying Damon Hill was average too after he left Williams?

  • Lazerpod66: If you think you know a lot about F1 you should also note that most drivers dont do so well as they get older. What I mean is that they dont win as often, etc. If Jacques didnt have credentials and he was given the Williams seat, then fine, his name gave him that seat. But Why didnt F1 give him a job earlier? Why did Jacques have to prove himself with the indycars? Your argument that Jacques is(was) average is invalid. He was a good driver in his prime, one of the better ones.

  • Ok, you want an example of a good old driver? Nigel Mansell. Definately world class caliber. He won the world championship at 38...enough for you?. Stop kidding yourself mate. Hill was a good driver, not exceptional, a made driver he was. It was him responsible for the car that brough Villeneuve to the top. Yes, he made a stupid choice to go to Arrows in 97, but he was better than Jacques. Hakkinen was awesome, as good as Schumacher burt a complete gentelman, one of the best, Schu is a shitter.

  • Hill didnt make a stupid choice going to Arrows, he was sacked at the end of 96 season and was glad he had a seat in 97 season.

  • Williams had the habit of shooting themselves in the foot, and by thanking Hill, they did the worst thing, hireing Frentzen.....

  • lazerpod66: Jacques upset a "great" driver...MS. Anyways, when MS had any real competition, he lost. Hill, Jacques, Hakinnen, Alonso. The first year Jacques went to F1, he nearly won the championship. But when MS when to a good team like Ferrari his 1st year, what happenned? Crapola! Dont dis Jacques, he was an amazing driver. Ok, most drivers don't do well after they win championships. But can Schumi drive an Arrows and win? (Hill had that win, you know). NO.

  • @taskmg3 I do realise that your post is 2 years old and you may have acquired some sense in the meantime, but did/do you honestly believe that? Everyone with just a little knowledge of F1 knows that the Williams of 96/97 was far ahead of the rest of the field, as was the 1998 McLaren and the 2005, and to a lesser extent, the 2006 Renault.

  • i think he is amazing.

bearing his fathers fame til 96'~97' everyone realized he is Jacques, not "son of Gilles"

the bar move is really hell, but a talented driver is a talented driver, he was, and he is.

  • The car sounds like this year's Yamaha MotoGP Bike. Sounds freaken cool.

As for JV...who cares. Bring back Murray!!

  • Good to see Schuey trying to cheat(as usual), but failing

  • schumi might hav bn flawed no ne is perfect he still a great champ

  • May not go down in F1 folklore like his father Gilles but shit drivers don't win world championships

no matter how good the car

  • cdnt agree more n he never shuts up the blind twat

  • Villeneuve has to be the sorriest excuse of a racing career I ever saw. Was dirt lucky in 97, and the rest of his career, he flushed it down the toilet. he was so stupid, he obeyed pollock to the inch, hence ending up where he is now, nowhere. He's not a whisker worthy of his illustrious father, Gilles Villeneuve.

  • lol ye

  • Well gee, your barely gay at all.

  • You're spot on about his career going downhill despite its promising start. I wouldn't put down his early success to dirt luck (2nd place in '96 and champion in '97): you need some talent to achieve results like that. However, the BAR move was a disaster: he finished 21st in '99. Has any world champion suffered that humiliation?

  • Well, everything was "better" in the past!? I believe F1 has not been as exciting as is right know for a long time!

  • Excellent commentary from Sir Martin.

    Fuck the Jacques haters.

Jerez should be on the F1 calendar. Fuck Catalunya!

  • I agree, Jerez should be in calendar. Its possible to pass there..

  • I agree the drivers, the teams, the classic formula 1 cars, teams like williams when they were powerful just made today's F1 pretty mediocre, but i still watch it. I just also miss the classic days of F1.

  • F1 was more enjoyable at the past...

  • villeneuve is a little, frustrated chimp.

  • i miss jerez circuit...

  • Ever cross your mind mroz84mx, that perhaps the post-Renault post-Newey Williams was in fact the source of his reduced levels of achievement? And that maybe he made a suspect career move in comitting to BAR? Anyone who knows this sport can tell you that a car alone doesn't win you titles. It's a big help but it's no guarantee. How many titles have Fisichella or Frentzen or Patrese got? They all title winning cars, hmmmm....

  • yea not to mention IronLion2007 a STRONG Chamiponship Team meaning : car,Race stratagists, engine deparment and the whole core, agree with you 100%

  • he has more achievements then you will ever have mroz84mx loser.

  • I totally agree with you!

  • sorry for the villeneuve fans, but the guy sucks, the car was the good one, not him... just look at his achievments after that championship... NONE

  • Ah yes spoken like someone who doesn't know much about F1. Damn there'a a lot of you out there with opinions far outweighing your knowledge.

  • jacques villeneuve forever, worlds best driver

  • Good challenging track I drove a F3 car a Renaultsport Clio car and an Arrows F1 car there - awesome! Thanks for the clip! :)

  • nice drivin by the man!! get that cheater

  • Awesome (three) laps.
