@johnmckinlay67 I do enjoy the song and the album, which prompted me to comment in the first place. Sorry, sometimes I get a little too passionate about music I love!
They were so great live. Got a chance to see them at The Roxy in So. Cal... that show did not disappoint. I have been a fan of The Talking Heads and Concrete Blonde from the time I was little so having Johnette and members of TTH together was bliss. I wish they had gotten more radio play than they did, but I will never complain about them. ^^
There is NO talking in these Heads. Your label is incorrect... I Love David Byrne, but clearly Chris and Tina don't. ALL DIFFERENT lead singers on this album, or don't y'all know or realize that?
@TheLesington No offence intended here my friend. I love Byrne also..was fortunate to have met him twice. Why don't you just enjoy the song and take a chill pill ? Be thankful that it's been posted here.
Johnette has such a powerful voice, it is beyond talking heads. Cool that they gel but not a Byrne replacement. She stands quite well on her own. Her work with Eljuri is fantabulouus.
If The Heads could have gone on tour: Johnette was going to be lead singer to replace Byrne. I don't know of anyone else who could have brought that off. She would have given the band an intensity in vocals that I don't think Byrne could do. THis is from the album No Talking just Head. The guest list is impressive. Debbie Harry kicks ass.
This song is an absolute gem. Saw the tour here in Toronto. The soundman was totally unfamiliar with the material. No distortion on her mic for the chorus, guitar was super quiet. Many years ago, but this song was the highlight of a show that was too mellow.
@HistoryTours Thanks for the heads up. I subscribed to your channel. Have a good time Monday. I hope she realizes that there are people out here who love her music, even if the main "lame" stream media doesn't give her justice. Her voice just grabs my heart and gut anytime I hear her. Take care.
Johnette, from the first time I saw her live to lowley 328 Performance hall, she has never failed to deliver. I've got the Mad Crush on you, Mrs Napolitano.
True, Walking In London, Carry Me Away, Little Conversations, etc. I grew up wanting someone just like you.
Someday Music Critics will say Johnette Napolitano>Janis Joplin. Just hide and watch.
Absolute genius. A superb track. I'd never heard of Johnette before this - but cracking stuff. And much though I love David Byrne I think the Talking Heads didn't do much better than this.
yeah Johnette is great. She is working on a cover of Midnight Oil's 'How can we sleep when the beds are burning" with Will Crewdson. Not sure if I have the song title correct.
ok girls and boys, here is the thing siouxsie and johnette are two very different unique, awesome singers. siouxsie and johnette are one of the greatest of rock history. i just meant they sound different.
i was too hard on what i said about siouxsie, but i felt let down and disappointed by her. she had it going, and what it takes, but i think sold out to mainstream commercial goth? just my own thoughts...
oops, sorry my cat hit the keyboard and off the unfinished message went!
mandragon727, i agree with aschenputtel85! it sounds NOTHING like siouxie. siouxie is a hasbeen and common and ended up a cheap trick. itz a pity, she started off excellently - especially when with the creatures, then she became like loads of GOTHS = CONTRIVED. this song runs rings around siouxie and the banshees. This song is REAL, RAL, REAL, THANKS. THANKS. THANKS TO THE HEADS! AND bia0
listen dick head. Siouxsie is not a has been. I just saw her in New York. She was awesome. Johnette I saw last spring. She was also AWESOME. Both women rock. Now shut the fuck up.
Yes Siouxsie rocks!!!I hope that she comes to Chicago for her next leg of her tour. Also Siouxsie is an insparation to Shirley Maanson from Garbage and several trip hop acts..So she is not a has been!!
OMG! I've been looking for this song since 1996!!!! I could never remember who did it, I could only remember the lyrics. I also saw this vid only once on 120 minutes. Never saw it again till now =)
i first heard this in 1997, when I a sophomore at Purdue University, in West lafayette, In; it was recieving limited airplay on our college radio station. My twin brother, the legendary Mitch Hubbard, bail bondsman/bounty hunter, turned me on to it, and I thank him daily for his insight!!!!!!!! This song truly brings me back; she sang for concrete blonde, ya know! Do yer homework, bitches! I luv ya all
I only saw this song performed one time one some late night talk show back in the 90's. I have had it in my head for 10 years until tonight. THANK YOU!!!!!
Check out CATFISH SCAR @ Myspace.
Jonnette is the most humble and real person I've ever met. She is a gift from GOD.
Thanks for the video just as awesome as I remembered. I've been looking for this video for what seems like ages. Technically it's just The Heads (No Talking, Just Heads.) I remember the mini-hoopla with David Byrne when this album was released. Still remains one of my favorite songs.
Correct. Byrne said at the time there would never be a reunion so the band went ahead without him, producing two or three very strong songs, this being one of them. I don't remember what finally thawed Byrne into a reunion, but he could've never done this song justice.
@moparmonster1965 I agree with you mate. I love David Byrne more than any other artist, but Johnette Napolitano gives this wonderful song a dangerous, dangerous edge.
Wow, I had to go back over a year to find my comment to see what I'd said.
I really like old TH, but was never keen on Byrne's solo stuff. I thought he was missing the old magic like Sting without the police.
He's really good at what he does, but it's not my cup of tea.
I don't think a male volcalist would've been a good choice on this one. I do think that Shirley Manson could make it work though, sort of like #1 Crush.
i heard this but never seen it...damn look at those muscles....strong just like that voice
