Yes, after I've had this problem for over a year I've figured it out. You gotta have the A/C adapter. There is a wire that plugs into the wall, than the other side of the chord goes into the charger. On the other side of the charger will be another port, then there will be a wire that goes in that side, that then connects to the camera to power it without the battery. Then you connect the firewire cable from the camera to the computer. Long and confusing I know. You don't need a CD though.

my uncle has this camera and he doesn't have the CD.he can only transfer the images but not the videos.any help
