So the things you used as the hilts had no real blade. if i used something like a stick or something, so that we could have real recoil from the hitting, would AE cover the "blades" properly? Or would you still see that the light is just slightly lining up with a real object?

after reading ur comment twice i think i've got it!!
we had two lightsabers, one of which had a fixed blade and one, a removable blade so when you see us get the sabers then we use the first saber then put the blade in for fighting. We made a blade out of bamboo sticks gaffer taped together so it was strong but thin and the other sabers blade was clear coloured as it was a changeable colour one (anakin to vader etc) AE should cover a stick fine. As long as the core of the saber is thick.
it was OK. some of the frames were held too long especially in your "gun fight" video but over all its pretty good.
