Richard Burns Rally - game or reality?

I know there is a lot of love and nostalgia out there for this game, but would I enjoy it - if I was to play it now for the first time?

Colin McRae turned to Colin McRae Dirt, which turned to just Dirt. Just announced was Dirt Showdown, which as far as I can tell has ZERO rally stages. Way to ditch your fans Codemasters -_-.

Warthog (the dev team) was sold in 2005 and a bit later the parent company went bankrupt. The publisher is still alive - apparently SCi first bought Eidos and then became part of Square Enix, so it is called Square Enix Europe. Not holding my breath for a sequel.

Colin series sucks for one simple reason. You can smash your car forever, and still running. Game for kids. In RBR one bad hit, and your car is totaled. Only thing I miss in RBR is better car damage models.

@DVAFP Physics are almost the same, but the feel, adrenaline, and g-force you get from real rally driving is still missing.

@Someone7089 You clearly haven't played the game. Its pretty old so can't really compare to Dirt 2! Dirt 2 is all "nu skool" but in terms of handling, realism its nothing like it. Dirt 2 may as well be categorised as an arcade game its that unrealistic. If RBR had an updated version released/one on xbox 360 it'd be perfect

Fijarse en el minuto 02:00 a 02:10 como se resalta lo irreal de su fisica y que el coche carece de peso en absoluto

No confundirse, no digo que TDU sea un sim, mucho menos "de carreras", de conducción tal vez. No alabo "su física", si lo real de algunos de los sonidos motor. Y de la sensación de conduccion a poca velocidad con una buena config de vol. y por supuesto CAMARA COCKPIT

en todos los casos.Lástima que CM nunca se propuso hacer un sim, pero la sensacion de inmersion den Grid o Dirt puede llegar a ser buena en casos aislados.

Y si hablamos de sonido mas aún, el Camaro Z28 del TDU con una Streme Gamer Fatality y un buen 5.1, levantar el pié en 2º y sentir como roncan las bocas del carburador, se te eriza la piel

Volante a 700º, Linealidad 0 Sensib Max (por ej) En Rally,lgunas cosas del Dirt, Circ cerrados, tete a tete, Raally Australia

Hay que saber config el volante pera que la sensacion sea realista y por supuesto, SIN MUSICA

Mal de muchos, consuelo de tontos. Tambbien el sega rally tiene fans y ni hablar GTA, NFS o cualquier otra mirda

Si vamos al caso, con volante Bien config, la sesacion de conduccin, llendo despacio es mas realista en TDU que en cualquier "simulador" conocido. RBR es el peor "sim" que he probado, basta ver como se mueve el coche en los videos, para ver que es solo un jueguito

Anyway, if you know something 'bout rally, you must know RBR is around 99% reality, that 1%'s the feelin that you can just don't feel in front of the monitor, but you can feel in the rally car... ;)

Car physics and handling in RBR is more realistic than in CMR games, BUT it is not a sim! It's like PES vs FIFA. They are intended as sims, but they aren't - they are rather too realistic (exagerated). I bought RBR and didn't regret it. But c'mon, it's not even 80% of reality. And I repeat, it's a wonderful game, but due to limitations in pc gaming back in 2004/2005 it can't be called "reality" nowadays. I would've understood if you said it 3 years ago.

Download the RSRBR IV mod from blackhole motorsports website the install with clean install of RBR.

Follow the contained instructions and start the game through the mod... loads of cars included and surface mods. I love the Rallycross (RC) cars the best, especially the Focus 06.
