What a great listen. To hear the whole context and come to appreciate his efforts to serve and teach is what makes great servants great. My goal now is to spread the simple verse, it not me but thee,. Though looking thru a glass darkly, we now see.Amen ...thank you so much for sharing.
he must of known, from what he said in this speech that the CIA was going to kill him. To anyone who doesn't know what i'm talking about, MLK's Lawyer, William pepper presented evidence to show that the CIA organised his killing. check it out on the net, or go to amazon and buy some books regarding the CIA's involvement in his death.
@boldergirl87: Black men are the greatest speakers in the world, but its not words its DEEDS that changes the world. Till we can act upon the words we have a lost people.
As time goes on his stature increases. This was a man who actually DID do Gods will. And was a fierce and peaceful Warrior for Justice, Equality and Good. He didnt care about anything except living from principle and freeing the oppressed....
and the oppressors.... RIP MLK and THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE TO HUMANITY.
This is one of my favorite speech by MLK, he just gets everything as it`s supposed to be seen. Always an inspiration. OCCUPY WALL STREET, WE AS A PEOPLE (OF THE WORLD) WILL GET TO THE PROMISED LAND.
I truly understand why THEY assassinated him shortly after this speech. His message was POWERFUL and if the people attempted half of what he said in the present, the world would shake.
This the first time I heard the entire speech. I've really enjoyed it and he was telling the truth. I remember my mother talked about the day Dr. Martin Luther King died and the sky turned dark that day. City of Memphis stood still that day.Everytime the televison show the civil rights movement, my mom made us watch it because it was telling us about history.
the disneyfied media have a way of leaving out dr. king's strong economic message. he urged people to boycott and "redistribute the pain," but heaven forbid that were the public image of such a hallowed leader. fantastic speech.
Thanks a great deal for taking the time and making the opportunity to have this powerful speech available. I had watched a documentary yesterday about the final days & subsequent aftermath of MLK's death. Of course, the "mountaintop" & "Promised Land" soundbites are most remembered. That happens with any story, old or new. But the context of the speech (regarding the strike), and King's attitudes leading up to it (his emotional mindset) made this for me worth exploring. Glad to see it here.
I hope this speech never gets forgotten. A stirring delivery/uplifting conversation involved. I felt much of what was stated here sums up "The Dream" & why. A reminder of the importance of the progress that had been made & change still needed to be done to solidify its magnificent hold in society. King was defiant & fervent here in his quest for real, far-reaching justice. I felt moved & humbled & educated all at once. Better treatment for human dignity is a need that never goes away.

-"God sent us by here, to say to you that you're not treating his children right."
-"Maybe they felt that it was better to deal with the problem from the causal root, rather than to get bogged down with an individual effect."
-"But then the Good Samaritan came by. And he reversed the question: "If I do not stop to help this man, what will happen to him?""
-"And at the same time, we are putting pressure where it really hurts."
God bless MLK. RIP. Thank you for UR example, legacy, truth & words.
