wao let me tell you thanks to you i can do it, i have been looking to learn to do this for a long time, also, how I can sew the border in the placemat just in case i already made it?
Have been looking for this information for along time. Now I know thanks to you. Love the instructions and the mat. What a great wedding gift I can make now. THANKS
@SaiFi0102 This was a placemat I purchased from Wal-mart. It had a fine thread count of around 400 or more but I got it on sale in the mark down section.
Thanks so much for posting this and passing along your knowledge. Our grannies and great-grannies wouldn't have even imaged this type of technology. Always wanted to know how to do edgings on solid fabric! Thank you again. PLEASE, PLEASE keep posting your knowledge.
Sorry, I meant to say only on two sides of the elegant bath towels. The two shorter sides, or horizontal sides. Not on all four sides like you're doing on this placemat.
I know what you are talking about. We only do 2 sides for bath or hand towels here in the US. I will probably come up with a tutorial for a hand towel in the future. They turn out so elegant.
Hello Teresa..just needed to say..I love you..you've shown me so much..I've been working a few things that I would love to show you. I guess I'll need to make a video and show you on here. Your one great teacher. I thank you god for bring her to me and everyone to see what a great teacher Terese. I see a shopping trip tommorrow for me..THANK YOU HUN!
You are welcome. This project alone can translate to pillow case edgings, fleece baby blanket edgings, cloth hats, hand towel, bath towels, or even shirts. Anything with a hard edge.

@Mommasbize This same technique can be used to add an edging along a pillowcase as well.

@Mommasbize WOW another great idea for a wedding gift. A set of pillowcases with their new monogramed initials on them. Thanks again.

This is so pretty. I was wondering how would you do this on a afghan blanket?
sexykbell 2 years ago
I would suggest a round of single crochet, then you can do this edging the same way.

Hi Teresa, this is something we do a lot in Italy. Around tablecloths, napkins and even on elelgant towels, but only on 2 edges. Good work
montrealstars60 2 years ago
Why only on 2 edges and what 2 edges do you work them on?

How did you get your holes on your place mate
slimjleo1955 2 years ago
looks like a sewing machine, longer running stitch
JACQSIErae 2 years ago
The place mat came with the holes from the sewn stitches.
