@skate26boarder This is not totally true. In fact, anything I've read about Kurt would suggest that he wanted to be successful and even embraced a little bit of commercialism. That's exactly why they signed to Geffen Records. I'm pretty sure that Nirvana, especially Kurt, didn't totally expect to be as big and famous as they became. I'm sure they knew they had it in them to become more than just an indie band, but Nevermind took a life of it self and that's why people talk about it today.

And whether or not he thought Nevermind would go on to sell millions and millions of record is also a matter of discussion. I also believe that Nirvana, and even Kurt himself, wanted fame to some extent. Everything I've read about Kurt seems to point out that he desired to be in the spotlight to some extent. Maybe not the extent that he got, but he wanted to be famous.
