He has a very good point! Although there are other words that can be used... I know he made fun of most of them, but it's the act of blurting out certain sounds in a time of some sort of emotional reaction that makes us want to use them, so it's possible to make up non offensive words that have the same effect... I just wonder if they would still be coined "swear words" eventually?
@tarrizzzzzzzzz Well that's half the issue, not the whole thing. I think most swear words have a short, hard sound, they sound off putting, and usually have some kind of meaning to do with things we don't talk about in public, like the human anatomy, sexual acts, or human waste.
So if you remove all those things and make up totally new words, then they may never be considered swear words at all. I find it extremely fascinating.
@TheUKJoconna Sean Lock is too intelligent for Mock The Week, hence why Frankie Boyle and Hugh Dennis got 2 of the slots on that show and Sean Lock is a regular on QI. :-)
@jcakjackjcak In 15 Storeys High, the rant is shown to be a major embellishment of what he actually said; "Well, I just did, so there." That seems to be a big theme in his routines.
