I like the direction Pankration has taken in the US. It's like amatuer MMA or a more exciting form of wrestling with punches and kicks.

In Greece Pankration is all about wacky nationalism and LARPing in togas. Probably because full contact sports aren't very popular like in the US.

But after thinking about how many people get brain damage and even can die from repeated blows to the head, maybe it isn't such a bad thing. why do they use mma gloves if punches to the face aren't allowed, the really should think about changing that, mma gloves are to protect your nuckles from your opponent skull and to avoid face cuts,  they also make grappling harder.
