For those of you out there thinking about getting a Redbone... BEST DOG EVER... Smart, loyal, playful and easy to train. This breed gets along with all people(loves children - See the movie "where the red fern grows") and all other dog breeds(especially females). I don't know how this breed isn't more popular.

The only drawback to this breed is that if you let them off their leash they might not ever come back ! They follow their noses and will sometimes get lost... permanently!!!!

I know what you mean about the nose. When it works, eyes and ears shut down...lol. I have to keep Jacob on his gentle leader just to be able to keep him from getting distracted. Jake is my first big dog and have to say that he is too smart for my own good sometimes. Highly recommend if you have the space for this breed. Have never been so in love with a dog. Funny, smart and lovable.
