Like Karina says here, she's at port, this is what life is like during this time. Just because at somepoint you'll be at sea doesn't mean you can't enjoy the time you have stateside.

@Brittnoiserz Think of the AF as a cleaner, safer ,more white collar version of the army with planes instead of tanks and little or no chance of actually getting hurt or seeing combat. The food is better in the AF and often but not always the baracks too..sometimes the navy does actually have better living quarters off the ship but it depends what base you are on. The airforce is an easier less ardous lifestyle more like a regular job but with less travel and less diversity of experience.
@Brittnoiserz Most anything in the navy involves dealing with machinery or mechanical devices. you are on a ship. there are weapons elevators, small tight machinery spaces, working out on the decks at night in low visibility ect. We had a guy on my ship get crushed in a weapons elevator, one guy got run over by a tow tractor on the flight deck and lost a leg, and we lost 5 pilots due to night time flights over the ocean. This was all in the space of about a year and a half. the AF is safer.
@PooreBrothers I was in S-1 ...the things I've seen will haunt me forever. I saw a Marine Admin get a paper cut...there was blood everywhere. Thank god for the Navy corpsman or else he would've had a very bad day.

We didn't get leave for three years because of "operational commitment" We changed CO's three times since i had been there. political bullshit, underways, watch, duty, lack of medical, drama, no hot guys, no hot girls, marines fucking everywhere, seriously, this chick has the LIFE in the navy. lucky!

Also yeah it was nice but it looked more like a duplex or town home than a house... notice the stairs as you walk right in the door. so its well withing possible to have that place as an E-4 with a roomate.
@ryrides I am an EM as well, but I dont think she got hazardous pay. The only incentives were flight deck pay and flying squad pay (and I am not even sure on the Flying Squad pay)
@H8fam God I miss it I am a GATOR Heart body and SOUL.. 16 years at Sea and I would do it all over again. But getting that retirement check is pretty sweet also.. Fair winds and Following Sea's Ship Mates.
lol if your enlisted you might aswell just click that little red X to your right. exspect long work days, and if your out at sea the only time you'll have to relax is at the end of your work detail. Also if your looking to get some decently attractive booty on a regular basis then join the air force. but i will say the girls you see or might get the chance to hook up with in other ports from different parts of the globe are well worth the 2 week - 2 month's out at sea.
I was an AO(2) on a carrier in the Viet Nam era. Ya know the difference between being in prison and being in the Navy? You have a greater chance of drowning in the Navy. Since this is a promotional video...Did they pay ya? When I'm not out killin' the enemy I do a little surfing at the local beach. I thought the Navy was fun too until Nam started and I got shot in the ass twice. Yeah a heavy price but I kept the little bast..ds from invading California.
There is no way E-4 and below can afford a crib like that.... they should also show the enlisted barracks, which are not bad, more like a college dorm in most cases... but not a crib.
@ThatOneGamerGirl depends on that! in japan, you dont get BAH if you are under an e5. e4 and below are expected to be on ship, unlessssss you get a barracks room which was meant for two people but they crammed four in there to "boost morale". oh yeah. sooo, it is not always possible. e5 is the way to go.

@tigerfanfanatic72 Sure, no problem. I was a Boatswain's mate. BM is not the easiest or safest job in the Navy. On deck you work with heavy machinery, cables, ropes, etc... Lots of ways to get hurt. I saw a mooring line (6 inch nylon) snap and take a guy's head off. I lost my finger getting it caught in the bight of a line. I also saw a guy almost lose his head on the flight deck when the rotor of a helo caught his helmet (he lived!) Deck seamanship is pretty dangerous work.
@tigerfanfanatic72 I am not telling you not to join. I had some good times too. Just got screwed when I joined. I wanted to be a corpsman, but the detailer at meps said no opening, but I could "Strike" for it. Never sign a contract unless you get what you want on it. Like the specific job you want (provided your ASVAB is high enough, and you don't flunk you A-School)...In a way getting hurt was not so bad. I collect a VA pension and my college was paid for on Voc Rehab.

@5220Timothy I just went to talk to a recruiter yesterday and he told me that all MA's are overmanned and its possible that I wont get the job I want, but depending on my ASVAB scores, the Navy will list the top 3 jobs for me. I wanted to be an MA also and he told everything they do, most likely an MA is on shore patrol, rarely do they go and guard the ships, but their are like a dozen on ships so it is possible to get sea time.
@5220Timothy If you really want it, go for it. Don't let nothing hold you back from being what you want to be. I'm still gonna try be an MA but was thinking about the SEALs as well. Right now I'm studying for the ASVAB remember if you score high you have better job options.

SEALS, DIVERS....etc.......they hardly sleep, on deployment if you sleep 3-4 hours your lucky.

I wanted to be a corpsman, but the detailer at meps said no opening, but I could "Strike" for it. Never sign a contract unless you get what you want on it. Like the specific job you want (provided your ASVAB is high enough, and you don't flunk you A-School)...In a way getting hurt was not so bad. I collect a VA pension and my college was paid for on Voc Rehab.

@5220Timothy I just went to talk to a recruiter yesterday and he told me that all MA's are overmanned and its possible that I wont get the job I want, but depending on my ASVAB scores, the Navy will list the top 3 jobs for me. I wanted to be an MA also and he told everything they do, most likely an MA is on shore patrol, rarely do they go and guard the ships, but their are like a dozen on ships so it is possible to get sea time.

@vachevyrider88 recruiters don't lie. Most of them don't do their jobs voluntarily, so they end up telling things that turn out to be complete BS just to make you sign the contract. The majority doesn't like it, but are forced to do so.

Great video! I was on the Wasp from '93 to '97. Saw some neat things, its nice to hear that you are enjoying yourself. If i could go back and do it again I would spend less time thinking about how silly some things were and more time taking pictures and enjoying the experience.
So, to all you kids on the Wasp right now, soak up as much as you can. Maybe 90% of it is stupid and sucks, but the 10% that is cool... Its some of the coolest shit I've ever seen.

Lol.......You really dont know what your talking about. Any military branch will screw you over with lack of sleep....its part of the life style, ive had watch from balls to 4....then had to wake up at 5 for quarters then go to school from 0700 to 1600.
SEALS, DIVERS....etc.......they hardly sleep, on deployment if you sleep 3-4 hours your lucky.
