WoW is losing a lot of its player-base. Servers are becoming low-pop. There will probably be a spike in the population when cata comes out, but if cataclysm isn't amazing, I'm sure WoW will continue spiraling the drain.
@Rnamod Aion... the game is full of bots (!!) has very few quests (!!) and you almost only grind (boring 1 vs 1 monster), later pvp ofcourse with a bad system for supporter/tanks. u see alot of claims about account hacking and deleted accounts. this game is a waste of money, except the grafics(!)
the way payong works for tyhis game is u can pay a certain amount like 8$ and gets ut like 30 days of playing and is only used up when u actually playt not like wow
Okay, so the trailer is similar to a rappelz trailer? Other than that, gameplay graphics are nothing like rappelz, do a side by side comparison on your own. The gameplay here is much faster paced (you can actually level while being a cleric) and the movement speed in general is far too fast to even look similar to rappelz. The characters are sharper, more detailed, and more audible through expression. The only place I see rappelz is art style, and similar is as far as I would go.

From what I have read the running specs are quite low, so if you have a fairly old system, you should still be able to run it, apparently the graphics still look amazing even on low settings.

WoW and Aion are nothing alike. The only resemblance is the UI, but look at other games... BLIZZARD has a stable basis for other games to develop from. wtf else do you want? what is easier than looking at the bottom of your screen and seeing easy access spells and just using them by the click of your mouse or the click of a keyboard? you think you can do better? then prove it, go out there, and do their job for them. id like to see all of you take what today's game developers have to go through

if you want "realism" play Ender Scrolls: Oblivion; if you want a great game to play and have fun, this is where to go. NC has made a lot of fun games. Lots of free games. Exteel, and Guild Wars to name a couple. Now that they came out with this i might just switch from wow, only because it has nicer graphics and it's just something different. Some things can change but for the most part its fun. So dont diss something you know nothing about.
It looks like guild wars because they are made by the same company. There are 3 factions, Elyos and Asmodians are playable. The third faction is Balaur but you cannot play it. You have to buy either the regular or the collector's edition for $10 more. then it is $14.99 a month to play

I am calling them copy cats not because they are in the same genre or has similar UI, but that these games were out in the first place only because the companies tried to imitate WoW after it turned out to be such a gold mine, in otherwords copy cating. It's basicly just a WoW with different spells, story and systems (like better graphics etc).
There are no one feature (neither UI) in WoW that wasn't taken from earlier MMORPGs. WoW got the easier (for the players) features of the genre and put it toghether to reach the "general public" and got rid of the complex things, in my opinion destroying the essence of the genre, that in first place was roleplaying. So WoW it's a copy cat (and a bad one) of another MMORPGs, just as the great majority of the new and future ones.

They got a lot of happy customers that think WoW was the first and the better, and more money for B. But that ruins the expectative for good games in the future, just cause if someone tries to make a magistral work, it will fail due to the market pressure.
I know it's utopian, but I prefer to demand good quality than praise a company for their bussiness.
WoW is great not because of its quality, its the ability to bring everyone together, createing a lush society where friends and family alike can enjoy a non-complex* enviroment, while not completely shutting the hardcore players down. Sunwell, and Ulduar, the highest instances/dungeons atm, and only 1% of the entire WoW population play it.
Quality is what you want it to be, but you'll never expect it to be what its suppose to be, or the way you want.
I understand your point and you can call WoW indeed also a copy cat. But, as you stated, WoW removed the complex things and many people like it. Games like AoC, Warhammer online and (maybe) Aion are copy'ing WoW in that way. So from a certain PoV you can call them a copy cat as well. Anyways lets end this argument, it's everyones own opinion wether he sees Aion, WoW or any other MMORPG as a copy cat or not.

If i enjoy a game i dont mind paying the money, games need to have GM's, updates, patches, and the staff need to be payed, otherwise theres no reason for people to stay.

After playing Aion, and being a long-term player of WoW i can honestly say they are 2 completely different games.Although i love the graphics in Aion, thats not whats stopping me play WoW right now. I will play WoW when the next expansion comes out again, i will play BOTH games for different reasons. i think thats what alot of people are trying to explain here, both games give a different sense of 'play' .
Aion might be different then WHO and AoC but until I've heard some friends commenting on it I prefer to put it in the section "Copy Cats". Surely you must agree that AoC and Warhammer Online are just copy cats of WoW?

lets list reasons to get over it.
1. on aion you can lvl by quests or by mobs vs WoW only able to lvl by quests.
2. aion does share the same idea for char creation like PW so what other games do too.
3. consider this l2 and WoW have been rivals for years.
4 get over it if you like WoW then stick with WoW. NO ONE IS FORCING YOU to play aion and I understand some people cant afford it.

From what I have read the running specs are quite low, so if you have a fairly old system, you should still be able to run it, apparently the graphics still look amazing even on low settings.

There wont ever be a true "WoW killer" world of warcraft has been around for 5 years with over 11 million suscribers they have a strong foothold in the rpg area, sure games with take away there suscribers Aion already has 3.5 million + in Asia. Dont get me wrong i believe Aion will be successful and i hope it does well but no game will be able to finish off wow for a long long time

Ugh.. I don't whens the next WoW killer it could be the next one or the one after that. Like honestly I don't really think this is going to work. All games look polished before they are produced to advertise the game a little more better. They always do this and then people suddenly expect *gasp* this is the WoW killer. I play WoW but I am not expecting anything until it's done producing. Ps. For gods sake remove that anime voice sounds I will not play a game like that and take it seriously

Female assassins are good for the trailers. It also showed a male assassin, right at the beginning.
Also, I'm laughing at the miniskirts. Pure fan service, when really, you'd lose your legs pretty fast.

WoW and Aion are nothing alike. The only resemblance is the UI, but look at other games... BLIZZARD has a stable basis for other games to develop from. wtf else do you want? what is easier than looking at the bottom of your screen and seeing easy access spells and just using them by the click of your mouse or the click of a keyboard? you think you can do better? then prove it, go out there, and do their job for them. id like to see all of you take what today's game developers have to go through

uhh.. NCsoft has plenty of games too at their disposal, and I think AION is just to keep people off of the hype from Blade & Soul, which is a monster. The debate whether AION will "beat" WoW I could hardly care less, but the fact is that they -will- yank in some players.

if you want "realism" play Ender Scrolls: Oblivion; if you want a great game to play and have fun, this is where to go. NC has made a lot of fun games. Lots of free games. Exteel, and Guild Wars to name a couple. Now that they came out with this i might just switch from wow, only because it has nicer graphics and it's just something different. Some things can change but for the most part its fun. So dont diss something you know nothing about.

It looks like guild wars because they are made by the same company. There are 3 factions, Elyos and Asmodians are playable. The third faction is Balaur but you cannot play it. You have to buy either the regular or the collector's edition for $10 more. then it is $14.99 a month to play

This game is not a WoW "Copy Cat". In no way is the art work the same, the gameplay, nor the story the same. By your logic, WoW is a copy cat of EQ, is it not?. QQ moar, go look up "Runes of Magic" and tell us Aion is the copycat.
If you want to play WoW, play WoW. This game is being designed with better taste in mind. I'm tired of WoW, WotLK has been nothing but trash. Vehicle combat and boring raids and tier in a lame attempt to keep players interested. GG Blizz at ruining the game.

I am calling them copy cats not because they are in the same genre or has similar UI, but that these games were out in the first place only because the companies tried to imitate WoW after it turned out to be such a gold mine, in otherwords copy cating. It's basicly just a WoW with different spells, story and systems (like better graphics etc).

There are no one feature (neither UI) in WoW that wasn't taken from earlier MMORPGs. WoW got the easier (for the players) features of the genre and put it toghether to reach the "general public" and got rid of the complex things, in my opinion destroying the essence of the genre, that in first place was roleplaying. So WoW it's a copy cat (and a bad one) of another MMORPGs, just as the great majority of the new and future ones.

They got a lot of happy customers that think WoW was the first and the better, and more money for B. But that ruins the expectative for good games in the future, just cause if someone tries to make a magistral work, it will fail due to the market pressure.
I know it's utopian, but I prefer to demand good quality than praise a company for their bussiness.

It all adds up to your own personal tastes.
WoW is great not because of its quality, its the ability to bring everyone together, createing a lush society where friends and family alike can enjoy a non-complex* enviroment, while not completely shutting the hardcore players down. Sunwell, and Ulduar, the highest instances/dungeons atm, and only 1% of the entire WoW population play it.
Quality is what you want it to be, but you'll never expect it to be what its suppose to be, or the way you want.

I understand your point and you can call WoW indeed also a copy cat. But, as you stated, WoW removed the complex things and many people like it. Games like AoC, Warhammer online and (maybe) Aion are copy'ing WoW in that way. So from a certain PoV you can call them a copy cat as well. Anyways lets end this argument, it's everyones own opinion wether he sees Aion, WoW or any other MMORPG as a copy cat or not.

The money making side of a game shouldnt make any difference.
If i enjoy a game i dont mind paying the money, games need to have GM's, updates, patches, and the staff need to be payed, otherwise theres no reason for people to stay.

After playing Aion, and being a long-term player of WoW i can honestly say they are 2 completely different games.Although i love the graphics in Aion, thats not whats stopping me play WoW right now. I will play WoW when the next expansion comes out again, i will play BOTH games for different reasons. i think thats what alot of people are trying to explain here, both games give a different sense of 'play' .
