Stripped the bike last night, wear gloves people!!!! Wear long sleeves if you're using the paint stripper that's in a can, the wind will put it on your skin. And it will burn T_T
bruv, i have one question. i bought this bike other day from the flea market. new paint job is horrbile on this bike and it looks really ugly. what do you suggest i should do? at first, should i sandpaper the frame directly to get rid of all the paint?
hey does it make a difference in using aerosol paint stripper or the liquid one? also once the paint stripper makes the paint bubble off, wont the paint be so bubbled off that it wouldnt take much effort to remove the paint? a few other videos show other people just removing the paint after the stripper has been put on like its nothing, they just rub it off with like a gardening tool! am i missing something?
@keychain1337 the liquid stripper seems to work the best for me, its slightly stronger, and yea sometimes it comes off easier then others this frame had multiple layers of paint so it took little more work
this is interesting man I got a 1980 trek 360 from a neighbor and have been thinking about redoing it. i got another smaller road bike the otherday but i forget the name.
Do you have any tips on the sanding, i do i have a "lugged" frame and its really frustrating me that i cant get the paint out of the knooks and crannies of the bike, any advice would be much appreciated
Hey I just wanted to know what kind of sander do you have? I'm trying to find a handheld sander thats small enough like that one. Also where did you find an adapter for the scotch brite sand discs?
Mike, do you recommend a particular clear coat? I did some research and found automotive clears are the best since they're designed for abuse in mind but they're quite expensive per can. Unless you plan on having it professionally done?
Hey Mike that stripped frame looks nice! I dig that simple chrome look. Can you mention in part 2 how to preserve such a stripped frame for someone who doesn't want to paint it but ride it as it is?
@Poland1st thanks it took alot of work. But to get the look you want you do the same thing you clean the frame then just spray clear coat on it. to keep the frame raw without it rusting on you
@Poland1st I heard clear coat and raw metal don't play well with each other so the clear coat would be a lot less effective and chip off pretty fast. I really wanna keep my bike raw or clear coat over rust actually.
Wow, I was planning on doing this today and within the last 30 min I have been looking all over for a video like this. And then I open my sub box and BAM! there you are. haha thanks man.
Where the fuck does that bike used to be?..

Would this method apply to a non steel bike? Say, chromoly or aluminum?
