This boss battle was probably harder than Dullahan because summons do not do as much damage. Doom Dragon is treated as three separate bosses, all about 4000-5000 hp. Since summons depend on the max hp a monster has, the attack power is significantly reduced.

Not to mention the fact that Cruel Ruin could easily wipe out a party even with Flash on...

Were you not paying attention? The Djinn he used before selecting them freed up the required djinn in that same turn.

For Golden Sun: The Lost Age, do this in VisualBoyAdvance:

Cheats -> Cheat List... -> Cheat...

In the boxes type this:

Address: 020305a0

Value: 00000000

For "Size" choose '32-bit'

For "Number Format" choose 'Unsigned'

And that should work. If not, let me know. I'll help you figure it out. And if you want a code for the first Golden Sun, let me know.
