How do you combine materials and Unwrapping? Lets say I want a Plastic material on my Spoon, but on this spoon there should also be a unwrapping texture, how do I do that?. So the spoon has a texture but reflects as plastic.
@nils4545 Oh there shouldn't be anything else you need to do, just go to the main part of the texture and add your material how you normally would. If you know how to do that of course
@doberman994 Make sure that on your texture map you color over the lines you are following. I usually use photoshop and make a layer over the original so if I mess up I can fix it. It's ok to color outside the lines when doing this!
Very sloppy tutorial id say, need more info about actual unwrapping, not just setting material ID's. Should do practice run beforehand and then start recording tutorials to avoid this kind of stuff :)
@OSKALT1 There are way to many tutorials on UVW Mapping and not enough about Material ID's. When I was learning how to texture my husky I couldn't find any tutorials on Material ID. I had to get a friend on YouTube to control my computer online and do it for me. I'm teaching about material Id's in this video so that other people wont have to go through the troubles I did. Not just make a tutorial on something already done hundreds of times. Thanks.
Oh, well okay i guess, Just a misleading video title then :) Still what i meant is that you could of nicely set material ids on head, legs and such, it wouldnt of taken that much more time, it took you way longer finding which file it is that you wanted. I didnt mean to offend you, just saying you could of done better if you tried harder, :)
@mtlongy Oh i might know what the problem is. You were right to use Polygon mode to select them, then when you get to the UVW Modifier you need to select the faces in that too. Otherwise it wont work
@mtlongy I had the same problem before. This is what I found out:
If you want to texture your model, make sure your 100% done with the modeling because going back to change anything will kill your UV Map and Texture will distort.
But if you would like to save your texture to one part of the body, (in the tutorial i had multiple different maps) you have to right click on the UVW Modifier and click Collapse Down.
Any more problems go ahead and come to me. or if you want more info come too!
I Made this Two Part Tutorial as Detailed as I could because when I was trying to learn it a while ago, it took me 5 Hours of Google/Youtube Searching before I Gave up and asked My Buddy to Help Me Out!
i know this is a old video but i hafta ask... i thought a normal renderable object required maximum 4 vertexes. If there are more, it doesnt show up.
