This was indeed the first episode to be shown on NBC, as a "sneak preview", pre-empting "DANIEL BOONE" [7:30-8:30pm(et)] on September 8, 1966. The following week was the series' "official" premiere ("Charlie X"), in its regular 8:30pm time slot. The Man Trap originally aired on September 8, 1966, and was the first episode to be shown on NBC. It is episode #1 of the entire series, despite The Cage and Where No Man Has Gone Before being created before it (and with a significantly different look to it).

Thank God they redesigned the outfits and general style of the Enterprise starting with this episode.

Here's a solution for those god-awful ad's! They are marked on the timeline. Mute your sound and take the marker to each ad, let it run. After you have done this for each ad, go back to thr start of the video. It will play through without those annoying ad's!:)

...Oh, but remember to turn your volume back up, LOL.

I hate commercials too. I was 14 or so when this began to air in the UK and I wacthed the show for years. It got me into electronics and computers as a profession. Now why all the crying ober THREE commericals, each of which was 25 SECONDS in duration?

This is frustrating. Every time a commercial ends, the video switches to the the "Share, Replay, respond" screen (as if the video is over). Every time this happens I have to reload and watch more blaring loud commercials just to get to where I was. Ridiculous. I normally don't make a big issue out of these kinds of things. And I know the only solution on my end is to buy the Season 1 DVD Set, but since commercials loudly intrude during each episode I feel I need to something.

The sound is oddly low. I have to increase every volume control in order to hear it. When the commercials drop in, they're excruciatingly loud. If there can be a happy medium that'd be great.

Awesome first episode(is it the pilot as well?). Can't wait to watch more.

I can see why the actors don't like it. In many other episodes, Kirk "forgave" the taking of life (i.e. "Devil in the Dark") - if they just would have supplied the salt, the problem would have been solved.
