If it was running fine when it was put in storage then you may only have to clean the points and give the carb a good cleaning. should be able to find any needed parts on Ebay. It's such a cool looking machine and I would restore it and use it.. I did a quick check the the brand is still around. when I was a kid we used to have a mower with a Clinton engine on it.. I liked them better then Briggs or Tecumseh. Ive been thinking about using this engine for a small generator.
@jrocco36 Hi Jrocco36 , No, this tiller at this point doesnt run but the compression is surprisingly good.The previous owner is a neighbour, and he said it used to run fine so I'm sure it wont be too much of an issue to get going. On this one too, the tines replace the wheels so i'm not sure how "Merry" this one will be either..lol
I have had this engine since 1978 or 79. And l its a 3hp four stroke. I mounted it on a McClain edger frame and used it for many years. I removed it from the edger and put it in my shed where it stayed for about 8 to 10 years.. pulled it out cheaned the carb and it ran.. I think this video was the last time I started it
it's a classic!!! The jackson co. History museum in maquoketa IA has a whole collection of clinton outboards,small engines,etc on display, as they were built there!

Yes they look like the very same engine.. does yours run? also love the name of the tiller.. I have a rototiller and its far from merry to use..

No it has two adjustable jets. you can see me adjust the bottom one at 0.37 in the video. The carb still has some problems at low speeds.
I think it's a Walbro carb.(but I will have to check)
