@HEMPERCOLLECTIVE no kidding, and Theo Parrish complains all the time about digital djing and the superiority of vinyl. I say that sob needs to put his money where his mouth is and press up more copies. I'm sure he is just biding his time to guarantee ridiculous sales whenever he decides to to a re-press. But still this originally came out on vinyl ONLY, and a CD version was released later.
lovin the raw cut.unfinished???i think not!this would get the crowd pumpin for sure.not in a super club but a real club or night where people follow the tasteful and soulful dj's!!
All these separating thoughts on taste.. we all ♥ music! Ain't it that way? If it doesn't speak to your very heart its ok! Its not my taste either! I appreciate the mood, sounds and ambience but I like grooves much more. :]
i disagree its up to the djs to have the balls...let ther be 10 min of akwardness the crowd in many cases will respect u staying true to the music you want..maybe if u do a really commercial club thats totally diff but if ur doing a local party or any venue that may have somewhat a diverse crowd its your duty to take the risk..fuck it
One of the most sexy, soulful, passionate pieces of electronic music I've ever heard. Very different but i put this into the same category as In For the Kill (Scream Remix). I bought this on Beatport. Much love and respect and hope to hear more like this in the future.
What a track. This lady sings with so much passion its so sexy. the beats are sick. this is what u call a sick house production. quality. going to listen to it again...
3 there's a brighter day coming where the beat will make you something do you like to control me i serve the only take the beat and i'm lonely rushin like a train on me i can feel it like a rocket keeps you moving and you can't say no when i woke last night i was ok but the beat made me feel a certain way dj controls my very soul and its almost like remote control would you like to control me people hit the ground runnin' love it can't you feel the pressure coming yes the masters' beat's coming
2 said a new day is coming all of this and now nothing move groove control me do you feel how it moves me only the dj can groove me don't you see how it grooves me ain't nobody can fool me now he has control of my soul in a way i think the dj knows dictate the mood with the beat the beat owns my feet do you want to control me cause i serve the only the beat makes me lonely
1 couldn't save my soul from the control tried to master me with his stop and go do you want to control me cause i serve the only do you want to control me tried to master me with your stop and go now the beat starts to mold me do you want to control me if you want to know me you just flow through me do you want to control me don't get up too close to me like the drummer can groove me move me know i serve the only only the drummer can move me
@djalternegro: Can we really blame them? So many DJs are into it for the money (ha!), the ladies or the lifestyle. Their measure of success will be either the previous, or the response on the dance floor. Sadly, the dancefloor ain't all real DJs and people who have taste in music. Often enough, they're happy w/ top40 and pseudo house they play on the radio at 10PM on a saturday night. Theo and the gang isn't so easily accessible. If you're not open to a bit of discomfort, you'll never appreciate
Exactly. I'd love blaming dj's directly, but that's just unfair and being a prick. It's the whole capitalism, materialism system, and imposed standards that makes dj's go mainstream thought they probably know deep inside that it's somehow wrong.
Artists like Theo became accessible to me only after a good 10 years of exploring various genres, I used to skip through tracks such as this one before. Taste is acquired, it's dynamic, and it's subjective. Imposing it on others is..meh.
why are all underground-deephouse associated people so defensive and arrogant and aggressive? i've routinely encounted snitches as well. sort of contradicts the feel of the music, which is "emotional, sold, passion, desire for love" yet the listeners are so opinionated and sensitive to any criticism. also, if you admit that you download music, you are ostracized.
bitch u ain't ostracized. it's lazy ass mofos like u that made technics throw up their hands and stop producing the mk series of turntables that had been in production over THIRTY years... the mp3 world is trying to fuck us, and u got tha nerve to say u being ostracized. and lemmie tell u somethin else, passion is a part of deepness. don't forget that. so when lame.ass jokers like u try to say what is though it ain't BELIEVE u will hear some unhappy words. please.
@djalternegro I think the issue is that many listeners don't have a taste for this shade of house music when they go out. DJ's, both local and major ones, can resist it, but ultimately, they need to play what people want to hear to keep them spending at the bar, or else the club/lounge/bar evicts them and they don't have a residency, or they don't get gigs, and don't have a job in some cases. It's a terrible two-way street of cultural destitution.
@scientrophic come on now.... so you are sayin it is ok for a DJ to "sell his soul"? If a club wont let me play what I play then I wont play there, I am not gonna play some shitty david guetta songs just to make a couple bucks, the same can been scene in the dubstep community, with the true sounds from the UK being overshadowed by shit like skrillex, I think you are just hanging out at the wrong places..
@KushPizzaSleep Chill out. I didn't say it was OK. I was explaining HOW and WHY it happens. Read what I wrote. Bars need people buying drinks, and people don't buy drinks unless they like the music. The old heads grew up, raised families, and don't come out anymore, meanwhile my generation was raised by technology and marketing and neurologically can't appreciate good music. I'm a house dancer, man, I know all my local joints and DJs who support good music, so don't get it mixed up.
@KushPizzaSleep yes man dubstep sound has been overdone and raped, fortunatly we still got some new talent up and coming, taking influence from ukfunky, garage, house, electro, techno, grime, in other words we're still good, the fools can keep listening to skrillex i don't care i'll jam to miz beats even if there's 4 of us dancing like there was 2 weeks ago at cable london bridge
@scientrophic While you are certainly right, there is no reason why a dj can't warm up with any of theo parrish's records and work into more commercial or stuff to rock parties with.
if you do not appreciate this music, I believe you really miss the very essence of genuine electronic music in general. Emotion, soul, passion, desire for love and the feeling for security is all condensed into these simple beats and arrangements.
@mikesirpedro I like the vocals and the synth bass sound but find the track as a whole a bit unfinished and basic. Call it modern art of whatever you like but he is no Mr Fingers to my ears.
@maccagrabme - I don't mean to sound stuck up/snobby but I think you need "unfinished" sounds from time to time - makes a change in a constant flow of a set, wakes you up a bit and asks you to pay attention to the different sounds again. Too often I will come away from a house night and forget the feel of the night - tracks like this do well to grab your attention again. Despite any "purpose" of the track, I just plain like it :)
@mikesirpedro "If you don't agree with what I think is good music you don't understand good music" Shut up m8. Let people like whatever the fuck they want.

the sad part is, there are "house" djs who don't even know who this cat is, and, if they DO know who he is, ignore him.
they ignore him desperately because they fear his representation of truth will eventually take out they trash.
anyway second chances is ridiculous. this man rules detroit. don't twist it.
