to be honest, I thought you were gonna be in alot of trouble on the final lap, cutting the grass like that *curb bouncing*. Good try, the guy in red is just too defensive a driver to allow you the racing line. I have done it too.
man u got no life askin all deese questions lol and these karts slow as hell on arrive and drive man my gx200 soo modded it'll hit 98-110 on the dyno..
Firstly, it would be helpful to know what type of karting you will be doing (senior light, rotax, etc.), but i'll try my best to help out.
First, you have to understand how your kart handles. Oversteer, understeer etc. knowledge would help you greatly.
Racing lines are fairly easy to understand after a bit of practice. You're basically just trying to create the largest diameter, so you can go faster. Obviously, you can go faster in a 90 degree corner...
...than a hairpin, right? well, we're trying to maximize track usage, so we can take the corner faster. Knowing when to accelerate is easy, but karters use a little special tecnique. Knowing when to brake is a bit hard, since you're not sure where you'll end up at first, but try to learn the track first, and you'll just have to gradually brake later, and see how that affects your speed/lap times.
When accelerating, I know it's "normal" that you let off the brake, then you get on the gas, right? well, its definetly killing your potential speed. When you are braking, right before you let off the brakes, put in a bit of gas. Then let off the brakes, and you'll be given a slight speed boost. Its like... a car at a stop sign or something. If you stop the car completely, then accelerate, you'll go slower than if you start accelerating from about 10 km/h...
Now, you'll see in F1, and in karting (especially in my video) that the guy(s) in front are ALWAYS maximizing track usage. That's the secret to our speed, and the speed that the winners of F1 carry. Use ALL of the track. Just using 1 more foot of the track than other people can have you winning the race by miles. That's why the 2 front guys in this video are faster than the other guys, who were wayyy behind. In racing, there's no such thing as "talent". Its just practice, and knowledge.
I think, if you're not low on money, that you buy a steering wheel for your computer, and buy a racing simulation like "Live For Speed" or "GTR 2" (search on google). These games can help you with your traction sensing abilities (the ability to know if you're understeering or oversteering.)
Next, I think you would GREATLY benefit from a book called Speed Secrets. Buy books 1 and 2 if possible. They will give you an insight on going faster.
WHEW OK! you can add me on msn if you have any further questions. This was my first year of karting too by the way :P. check your messeges, i'll post my msn there.
haha hey guy its mark, whats up, my buddy jon found this, how many vids of us racing do you got?? i saw the other one where i passed the 3 of you guys in that qualifying, haha i just floored it and didn't let up. I miss the F1-K Karts, they like got loose and took more skill to drive, right now I hate the Intrepids, they are heavier and you like dont even have to brake in the corners, hahaha the Intrepids like have no brakes, and only like 3 of the engines are working right out of what like 10
I only have 2 for now, but it's really fun to watch us racing so i plan to upload a lot more lol. Yea I miss the old ones too cus they were a lot more fun to drive, but atleast the karts are more evenly balanced now...sortof. Anyway, it's really hard typing right now cus i have this wierd font that makes periods and commas look like mi's and add's so i'll catch ya later lol.
LMAO last time, was like practice , i hopped in a kart, and the seat was jammed, wouldn't go backwards, than danny tryed to help me, and it slid forward, and was jammed all the way forwards, and i was like stuck in the kart, LMAOO omg i keep telling everybody how much i HAAAAAAATE the new karts.
LOL nice :P. My seat kept moving backwards and i couldn't even reach the gas pedal fully lol. Hey, atleast the seats don't bang the floor on the straightaway. That used to hurt lol.
dude at 3:55ish u got done around the outside! should of jus hung him out to dry on the grass
