Good News! AARP & the American Medical Assn as well as the American Cancer Society just announced that they're supporting the House health reform bill.
Take a moment to sign this petiton in the comment section of my profile.
Any Democratic senators including Joe Lieberman who support a Republican attempt to block a vote on health care reform should be stripped of their leadership titles. Americans deserve a clean up-or-down vote on health care reform that includes a public option.
Actually it's not... I noticed you left out the American Cancer Society... Is that old news as well? This petition isn't old. There are more than 120,00 signatures so far and it's growing at a rapid rate. Think whatever you want to.. It won't make any difference.
You are absolely correct. It won't make any difference. I notice Obama cancelled his trip to Capital Hill today, ostensibly because of the Fort Hood shootings. I, rather, believe it is to save him the same kind of embarrasment he just endured after having made 5 trips to NJ to support Corzine only to LOSE! Yes, what I say makes no difference. Neither will your 120,00 signatures. MILLIONS of Americans don't want this ABORTION of a bill.
As someone who just lost a family member in Afghanistan I can assure you it was out of respect for the soldiers and nothing more than that. I know my family was honored when he paid tribute to my nephews wife and the family in Dover last week. It was what he did when the cameras were off that was mose impressive.
As for your abortion scare tactic: You folks who are prolife are selfish, You have no plan as to what you would do with all of the unwanted babies. You certainly would not want a 5tax increase and you have no interest in fixing the current system which is a proven failure and is overcrowded. Adoption is not a solution as the supply would be greater than the demand. You are whining to the wrong person when it comes to this issue.
I wasn't referring to abortion in the bill. I was using abortion as a metaphor. However, now that you bring it up, you couldn't be more wrong on "supply more than demand". Also, if you look at abortion dispassionately and just look at the numbers, the current system is COLLAPSING as a direct result of the absence of the 50 million aborted not here to pay into the system. Many of the aborted would have also had many children to pay into the system since roe v wade in 1973.
So then what would you do with all of the babies? You really think there is an endless supply of people wanting to adopt and that that supply will keep up with the number of babies being born? It's common sense that it wont.
Hey SMARTASS... there are many faith based organizations who would step into the breach, if in fact there was one. Life isn't something to be casually discarded. If you don't believe that, there are MILLIONS in this country who do and would be willing to put their money where their mouth is; not because the government COMPELLS them (as with this pending healthcare legislation) but ONLY because they believe it the right thing to do. Your lack of faith in your fellow man is disappointing.
Where are these faith based organizations for the kids who have no place to call home now? You are right I don't have faith in my fellow man. I do however have faith in my God and I know that his will will be done in regards to health care and humanity.
And God would support unlimited abortion? So you are saying that you are the ONLY ONE that believes in God? Of course you are not. And, if you are not, then there MUST be MILLIONS of people who are doing the right thing NOW, and would continue to do so. I'm afraid your view of the world, particularly in view of your professed faith in God, is WARPED! I suggest you spend a great deal of time looking in the MIRROR and have a long talk with yourself and re-evaluate... if you can!
I don't think that God supports abortion but I believe that God wants us to choose his way and not have it forced upon us. Sins are between the sinner and God and nobody else. Nice job avoiding the rest of my response to you though.
Your logic is fatally flawed. The whole point to the legislation you support is to have liberal morals, using your own words, "FORCED UPON US" as if we don't have any morals of our own! Not you, or anyone else, has the right to be MY moral compass!
Health Care is not a moral issue. It is something we will all benefit from. We need a country full of healthy folks instead of sick folks. Insurance companies should not be allowed to continue ripping folks off. The rich should not be treated better than the rest of the folks who live here when the poor people work just as hard if not harder than they do on a daily basis.
I agree that the gov't shouldn't fund EITHER side and show favoritism on abortion. However, why all the bitching from the antiabortion folks? Is it REALLY gonna make that much a diff. in abortion rates if the gov't stopped funding them? Come on! Women will just find alternative sources for abortions. It's Econ 101. What people like Perkins are saying is Econ Fallacy 101. The Hyde Amendment is perhaps the biggest load of bullshit ever devised. They claim it "saved 1 million babies."
The folks at these parties are mostly middle or upper-middle class, at least. I mean, look at those suits. They're the ones with the LEAST to lose if healthcare reform fails, but they're bitching the most.
Anyone else see the irony, esp. my conservative friends on YT? Do you now get why we HATE the teabagging fools?
How the hell can one even MEASURE that?? stopped 1 million abortions? It's pretty damn hard to prove a negative, ya know. And, pardon me for asking, but aren't abortion records private?
I love how these anti-abortion crusaders use the term "abortion industry", as if the ONLY reason groups like Planned Parenthood are providing abortions is to make money. Please! I doubt they even make THAT much of a profit. It's not much of an 'industry' if there's really only one major provider. Aside from PP, there's no major competitor providing abortions, really.
And just b/c they charge a lot of money for abortions doesn't mean they're in it solely for profit.
The pro-lifers are selfish. They have no plan as to how these unwanted babies would be taken care of. They are not interested in fixing the current system nor would they agree to a tax increase to support these kids. As far as adoption goes the supply would outweigh the demand.
Once again, your logic is BASS ACKWARDS!!! The majority of abortions take place because being pregnant is "inconvenient". It is an abortion of CONVENIENCE that is SELFISH!
The point is people are not going to keep babies they don't want even if you force them to give birth so before doing something stupid like that you should have a plan in place as to what you would do with them. Anything else would be irresponsible. Granted those who have unprotected sex are irresponsible to but more wrongs will not make a right in the interest of the child.
Blackburn has READ the bill?? Either she's lying or has a lot of free time on her hands. How the hell can a sitting Congresswoman have already read a 1990 page bill?? Does she even remember half of what it says?
Seriously, Republican douchebags. Leave the freedom-fighting to the libertarians (although, I must admit, they've also been sucked into this anti-reform nonsense and can't think straight, it seems).
A man who has worked to protect "religious freedom"? *cough* BULLSHIT *cough
What he's worked to protect is bigotry and religious hatred against minorities like gays, as well as discrimination. The FRC is a fucking joke. They try to produce a 'scholarly' backlash against 'immorality' and homosexuality in America but realize that science is on OUR side of the aisle, so they have to use the most ridiculous sources, quotes and 'facts' imaginable.
When the country watches you idiots at your stupid-ass tea parties, what do you think they see? A bunch of privileged white Republican fucktards who are too stupid for their own good, who believe propaganda just so long as it serves their interests, whether or not it's at all true. You are NOT the majority when it comes to healthcare. You are a fringe minority. Fuck off, teabaggers. We don't need your kind.
I support the public option.

a) AARP members are SHREDDING their membership cards! AARP sells BILLIONS in medicare supplement policies!
b) The American Medical Association represents LESS than 20% of the medical community.
c) This is OLD news, simply regurgitated yesterday to put it out there AGAIN just ahead of the House vote.
