Was so envious of kids who could jump rope like that when I was little, especially at my schools. Could never get it down. Always liked to watch them though.
holy cow, that's crazy. i remember seeing this on tv, but i didn't understand the difficulty those kids were attempting. that's pretty cool now that i see it again.
Does anyone actually know who these girls were? I think it would be very interesting to see what they are doing with their lives now. It doesn't matter what activity you find as a child, as long as it's something you can do well and something for which you can be proud of. Anything like this which demands hard work, teaches you to trust yourself and inspires confidence will make all the difference.
awww, i get goosebumps watching this again! especially when their coach is cheering and so happy for their achievements! my childhood is brought back!
does anyone know the name of the song that was used in a sesame street episode that was a film where a girl was drawing a picture of a friend so was a boy also drawing a picture of a friend.
That's right. If you make a mistake, just keep trying. That motto goes out to my dad, who would get mad at me for making mistakes when learning a new body exercise even if it was the first time, and say he'd slap the *BEEP* out of me.
I'm touched to see how my work created such fond memories!
Besides directing this video -- the official name is "Double Dutch Jump Rope" -- I also photographed and produced it. Of course, the original broadcast looked a whole lot better!
Mike Grenadier did a brilliant job of editing and Tom Guarcello captured great location audio.
Other Sesame St. shorts I produced were "Operation Playground," "Nature Detectives," "Hug a Tree" and "Harlem Jr. Tennis." Remember these?
Yesss! I so remember this episode, I was lookin for it for a looooooong time, so glad u posted this, Thank you! I especially remember this episode bcuz of the music, back in the early 90s, I used to think this beat was hott! Does anyone know who composed this music? Those girls are off the hook too.
I totally remember the music from this, and that "knee, kick" quote! Awesome! I loved this clip as a kid. After seeing this on TV, me and my sisters tried to do double-dutch with a couple cheap jump ropes we had in the house, but we were quite unsuccessful.
I wasn't the only one who wanted it to be posted. Also Cannonmovietalesfan and ndingo wanted to see it too. BTW, The contest was sponcered by McDonald's.
