DUDE! YOU WHEEL IS A DEATH MACHINE! THEIR SENSITIVE FEET GET CAUGHT IN THAT AND CAN BREAK! I KNOW SOMEONE WHOSE GERBIL'S LEG HAD TO BE AMPUTATED BECAUSE OF THAT!
As much as i agree with things, but as for the wheel i got one for my own gerbil and he got hurt while running in the wheel also the cage bars you have to be carful with as if the chew the bars the can split the teeth (like have a gappy tooth) or even brake them.
They actually continually move the bedding in the rest of the cage to one spot, which is where they sleep. Whenever I lift their house, there is no bedding underneath and I refill it usually. They just like having a huge amount of bedding in one place.

One of their tails could get easily stuck. A food dish isn't recommended because they are natural hoarders and should be able to hide their food. Cedar and Pine are a NO NO.
I'm sorry but pine and ceder are the WORST kind you can get for them.Get a new wheel too, their tails will get caught in that. You shouldnt hove them on the floor like that, you will lose them. they like to bury their food so you dont have to take out the beddibg or put it up like that. You also need to have them in a place thats not on the floor, away from direct sunlight, and not in the shadows. other than youre pretty much fine. :)
Do gerbils bite as much as hamsters? I had two dwarf hamsters and they would nip me if I didn't pick them up with a tube but I heard mice rarely bite and I noticed some people stick their hand in a gerbils face without it biting and thought maybe they didn't bite like mice.
BTW what would people reccommend, a gerbil or a mouse?
And do gerbils need another gerbil to live with or can you have just one?
@caronthegerman I have had a mouse and i have 2 gerbils i recomend gerbils as they aare more playful but mice are VERY good to. Igot 2 gerbils as they are brothers and i would never seperate them. And finaly my gerbils only nipped me when they did not know me but now they rarly nip and my mouse (Squeeks) never bit! hope this helped!!
Mice are smarter and can be taught tricks and are very small. Gerbils aren't as smart, but don't smell nearly as much as mice. Male mice give off a musky odor. Females don't smell nearly as much. Gerbils are also bigger than mice. Mice live only for 1-2 years and gerbils live for 3-5. A 10 gallon tank can hold 3-4 mice or 2 gerbils. Gerbils require essentially less care, but should be given as much time and love as any other pet. Hope I helped!
I've had mice. They're very active and vary between docile and skittish. Some of the ones ive had were very docile and you could pick them up with no issues, while others ive had were very skittish and i couldnt pick them up at all. Also Mice like to chew and are VERY messy.
you need a different wheel that kind can rip there tail of pine is bad for them only aspen and carefresh for there there shavings they need a hideout to sleep and they need an aquaruim so they can burrow
No they live 4-6. And pine is EXTREMELY bad for them! It adds oils to their fur which can kill them. Learn about gerbils, reasearch them. BEFORE you get them. And that wheel is HORRIBLE for them! They need flat surfaced or both vertical AND horizontal wires.
this is wrong... you should not have a cage. you should have at least a ten gallon TANK. gerbils like to burrow and they can burrow deeper in tanks. and its much safer and more fun for a gerbil to be in a tank.
I have a question. Do you know the best way to introduce gerbils to each other?
We adopted a gerbil from petco, and we will be going back soon, and we were thinking of getting another gerbil, bc we heard gerbils live longer with what me and my sis call "room mates".
Don't put them in the same cage at first - the original gerbil will probably try to kill the new-comer. You'll probably have to buy a new cage to keep your new gerbil in. I suggest putting them together in a neutral cage now and then and introducing them slowly. You can put the old gerbil in and new one's cage so he gets used to the scent. Eventually they'll be friends :D
Oh and I forgot to write something. I really like the cage, but the wheel is a little unsafe. I dont mean to sound rude but I would use a mesh one, so the feet and tip of the tail dont get severed off while running fast. Usually its the tail, and the feet just get twisted. You can duct tape the wheel and put bedding over it to make in non stickey. Sorry I sound kinda rude but cool video. 1 of my gerbils is kinda fat but urs are thin so thats good lol!
I like the cage. Oh and to the question, yeah its the dust. Im currently using pine, the one with reduced amount of dust, and will be getting the safe kind, ( carefresh or something from thats safe petco.
Aspen is good too. And cheaper. Im only doing this cuz my gerbil sneezed and is getting a bloody nose from it :/

How are your girls? I have five gerbils right now. One is very, very old. Sometimes I treat them to store-bought crickets.

I have been bitten before but it is more like a friendly nip. It surprises you but it does not hurt very much.
I can't recommend you either one because I have only had experience with gerbils.
You can have a gerbil by itself but it will get lonely, I suggest that you get 2 gerbils.

lol my mum said that gerbils NEED to be together or if its just one of them they will commite suicide! or die of boredem

It depends.
Both need company.

I dont have gerbils, but there looking kinda cute.
tip: use text screens with wmm, and add a song that makes it nicer to look at.
cute gerbils makes it 5/5, not really fun to look at = 3/5 = 4/5
