Brilliant to see this! Thank you so much for uploading this. I have a copy of this song by Nirvana - and always thought that it shouls have been huge hit!
@LazzariJ Great band, i was there in 1968 when they played at thurmaston, leics. brings back fond memories. long live the 60s and beatles music. thanks for the video . Very good
I saw this band several times in London, most notably at the Lyceum Midnight Court all nighter with The Who and The Crazy World of Arthur Brown. My faourite tracks on their album are Violin Shop and You're not in my class. When I heard Alison Moyet for the first time I thought it was Jess Roden singing.... A great underated group, singer and fantastic band,,,,,,,,, Where are they all now???
My elder brother had this single, and it made me research music form this period and discover a whole load of good stuff I would have missed otherwise.
Absolutely brilliant. Remember seeing that TOTP. The BBC policy to delete so much of their archive was dumbfoundingly short-sighted. Great tune and performance from a great band.
Great clip. Thanks for posting this. The song 'We Can Help You' was written by Patrick Campbell-Lyons and Alex Spyropoulos of Nirvana (UK 60's Group) and appeared on their album 'The Story of Simon Simopath'
Well, waited a long time for this but well worth waiting for one of the music biz,s great mysteries why the ALAN BOWN! never made the big time they packed out places wherever they played, one of THE best bands to come out of the 60s simply oozed class and musicianship if theres any young bands out there take note this is how it should be done thank you MR B for posting superb!
This performance was filmed with a super 8 movie camera in front of the TV but the sound was added only recently. This single reached number 26 in the NME charts in 1968. The BBC have long since deleted this performance from their archives. Only this clip exists from this particular show.
Following this appearance on Top of the Pops, the band were told by TOTP that they were guaranteed a return performance the following week, providing record sales continued. Without warning, the pressing plant processing the single went on strike. The manager of the band took out a court injunction to force the plant to resume production but until this was resolved, the record could not be obtained.
The song is ideal for a commercial but to our knowledge has not yet been used for this purpose.
CAN'T BELIEVE I AM WATCHING THIS.... thank you

Great stuff!
Does the whole of this totp exist or did the filmer just do this clip?
What's the history of this clip? A super 8 camera in front of a telly?

Thanks for the info!
This would have gone top ten but for a strike at the factory issuing it.
Apparantly the song was used in bread ad??!??
