The brilliance of Stanley Eisen and Chaim Witz, aside from being business geniuses (ahem) is that they are true believers, lovers of rock & roll. And that they allegedly remained relatively sober at a time when... well, you know. Godspeed.
That was an awesome time back then. The first time I finally got to see them was in 1983 in minneapolis. First time in make up at the 1996 reunion tour in K.C.
and all the others, asylum, hot in the shade, revenge tour. Even paul stanley's solo tour at the myth in minneapolis. But never in the 70's. So I think you all are pretty lucky to have been there.
I swear to god, or allah, or whoever, that I was at THIS VERY CONCERT! Capitol Centre, Largo, MD (R.I.P.) I wish I still had the ticket stub to prove it to you. I was 15 years old, and it was only the 2nd concert I ever saw (Styx was the first). Damn! I can't believe there's actually pro-shot footage of this show!
What's funnier is that we stopped by the Sheraton in Largo because I read a quote once from Gene that they always stay at Sheraton Inns... and while we were sitting in the lobby, in walks Joe Perry of Aerosmith! Later, Kiss comes down but their a-wipe bodyguards forced us out the door of the hotel before we could meet them.
I've met Gene twice at book signings, the way he is on his show is the way he is, no bs lol also, back when KISS was touring with Aerosmith, my buddy and I went to see them at the Forum in L.A. Just before "Strutter", Paul announced that they were bringing someone up to play with them, and who should walk onstage but Joe Perry.... in a pair of Paul's boots! He played lead for that song and he just WAILED!
Not at this show, I was there (and won't shut up about it). Billy Squier's not-amazing band Piper opened. Apologies if I haven't read every post, just saying...
@Chrisdrumz sorry fo any confusion I went to the show that Billy Squier's band Piper opend for Kiss on 12/20/77 I had some friends that went for the ac/dc show the night before they said it was good but it was a short set and not alot of people knew AC/DC at that time. I worked for the sound company that did AC/DC in the mid 80s and met Malcolm and Cliff a few times I always wanted to ask them if they remembed that Kiss show but never did.
I was at the show the night before with AC/DC opening. Glad I missed the Piper opening show, never been a big Squier fan and AC/DC kicked ass!

And the opening act? It was Bob Seger and The Silver Bullet Band. He played his "new" song -- "Night Moves". But everyone was there for KISS.

This has been flagged as spam show
Kiss dumped their trusted road crew in 76 and went with a scary company named Glickman Marks.
I dont like what Bob Ezrin did to kiss either
