Thanks for showing off the Cecilio, it was good to see it being played (and know what I am getting into). Great vid, best of luck to you!
@DreamyGranola, A real musician should try to make the music they imagine a reality. You try to tell people the music they should really be imagining. You're not a real musician.
please, i am trying to find an electric cello, i play a "normal" cello but some times when i am stuck in some part of a music or a studie (i play dotzauer studies as well =D) i think i'm desturbing my family and neighbours (i know it stupid but i cant avoid it) so i'm trying to get one of this not to disturb anyone but myself using the headphones. but they are all so expensive, i'm from portugal so do you know where can i buy one online or something no so expensive as the yamaha's silent cello?
Firstly, no. No orchestra will EVER allow an electric instrument to participate. Music composed for beautiful, natural, acoustic instruments should not be violated with a harsh, brutal, metallic sound. Hand crafted cellos are sensitive and can express the subtleties of the most emotive music, which this cheap, mass produced cello most definitely can't! You should, if you're serious about the cello, learn on an acoustic, and learn to respect classical music rather than the vulgar music of today.
@DreamyGranola I agree u really shouldn't play classical music on electric instruments (though I did see a violist in a symphony playing some kind of hollowed electric viola) But electric instruments can be used for other music, not just strange heavy rock songs, there are good songs that use electric cellos. btw ur right, cello should be studied on a normal instrument, even if you will play an electric cello some day; just like if u want to play jazz piano you still should start with classical
@DreamyGranola Dude who cares. And besides, if you're playing in a giant stadium with 10,000 people, it's good to have something you can plug in. That's what it's meant for. Stop being a moral-fag who thinks he's the master of music and decides what everything should be. Metal can be masterful and beautiful too. So why not play on a Cello to express the absolute serenity between the softest of music and hardest of music.
I notice you play backwards ie your hands are switched. are you right or left handed in real life? Am going to self teach myself and am left handed what do you suggest.
thank you for posting this, it helped me make the decision on purchasing this exact one. i really like the sound a lot. i would be just as ecstatic as you are about it. thanks again.
Nice cello, you should equalize the sound increassing the bass and decreassing the trebble, the sound is too bright, with a darker sound would be excellent :)
Thanks for posting this! I'm getting an electric cello like yours ( except different shape ) for my birthday. :) I love the metal sound, do you have to have a special amp to make it? Will an electric guitar pedal work do you think?
@Roddy: I use my brother's Line 6 amp which has 4 preset effects: metal, crunch, something, and something else. He plays the guitar and I play cello but we both use the amp interchangeably. As long as your electric cello has a pickup I believe it will work just fine for both the amp and pedal, but I've never used a pedal before.
Thanks SO much for posting this review! For a long time I've wanted an electric cello but haven't gotten one bc of the price tag. Now that I know cecilio's electric cello's are decent, I'm most def going to get one. Thanks again!
Hi, I was wondering whether or not this can sound like an acoustic cello? With no effects and just plain amplification?

@eagleswingsgymgirl The video is flipped. but what if she was left handed?
WiiAreSIN 2 months ago
@eagleswingsgymgirl probably the video flipping the image, not her holding the cello wrong.
