  • I thought the guy who played The Comedian looked like Robert Downing Jr

  • A lot of people did.

That's one of the reasons I made this version of the trailer.

It is not Robert Downey Jr.

  • yeah I first thought that too, then I looked up the website and found a picture that makes the charcter (in the movie) look nothinh like Robert Downey Jr.

  • Gostei da resposta

  • i thought the comedian looked like brendan fraiser.

  • I also thought the Comedian was Downey

  • Full cast list for "Watchmen":

    imdb . com / title / tt0409459/

  • this might just be me but during the trailer at the dark knight i thought the comedian was played by Downey Jr.

  • It's not just you.

But the fact that an actor looks like another actor, doesn't make it that actor :)

Robert Downey Jr. was still finishing the filming of "Tropic Thunder" at the time this movie started shooting.

  • In my neighborhood noone has seen this movie trailer....I have the power, why not use it.

  • this movie is gonna be amazing. read it like four times this past month. do you think they might even put the sailor comic into the movie?

  • No, The Black Freighter story won't be a part of the movie.

It will instead be released 5 days after the premiere, as an animated direct-to-dvd release, including a documentary-style film called "Under the Hood", that explores the characters backstory.

Later, this dvd will be edited into the movie itself, on an "ultimate" edition dvd release (following a standard release of just the movie).

A dozen webisodes are also planned, named "The Watchmen Motion Comic".

  • I dont know how you know these things, but right now you seem like a saint sent from the heavens. but its good to know that. also when is the official day of the release? cause im gonna request three days off just for that movie.

  • As the teaser trailer states: 03-06-09

(The first three quarters of an analog clockface. The fourth being 12 - the hour that according to the doomsday clock signifies the beginning of World War III)

That would be march 6th, 2009.

  • 3 days off? lol awesome

  • i am just reading the graphic novel now.. do u think i should read the parts inbetween chapters.. the under teh hood ones? is it essenstille to the story? u seem like a good person to ask

  • That is up to your own patience.

I feel that it adds a little more insight into the characters, so I would recommend it. But not if you feel that it's a chore, and you're more keen on getting back to the actual comic.

  • I finished the graphic novel a few days ago and I didn't read any of the stuff at the end of the chapter and it made perfect sense to me. Afterwards, I started to skim through them, and it gives a lot of depth to the story, along with the back-story of some of the characters.

  • yep exactly. im glad i read those parts while reading the book to. it expanded it greatly.

  • Ozymandias and Nite Owl seem to be the only ones with costumes that differ slightly from the graphic novel. Everyone else looks pretty dead on, though.

  • Agreed.

Ozymandias' change makes sense, though. Those colors simply wouldn't work on the big screen, so they had to make changes. It's still a faithful look, though.

As for Nite Owl, they only really made him slimmer, changed the mask a little, and built his goggles into it.

Silk Specter II was changed a little as well, though.

  • wow. cool. never heard of this but it got me interested! thx!

  • My pleasure.

  • nice, it solved some of my confusion. im definitely picking up the book, but it seems to be sold out in every store and library =/

  • Isn't the quote at the end a misquote of Rohrschach?

    Here it is :

"The accumulated filth of all their sex and murder will foam up about their waists and all the whores and politicians will look up and shout "save us!"...

... and I'll lookd down and whisper "no."

  • It is common practice to shorten quotes when used in the trailer, since they will be presented out of context, or even in a different context.

If you listen closely, you can hear that it has indeed been edited down. Most likely, the full quote will remain in the actual movie, but was deemed unnecessary/irrelevant for the teaser trailer.

Thanks for pointing this out, I'll add an annotation about it in the video.

  • Are you going to see the movie?

  • Definately.

  • Very good. Thank you for all the answers. I really appreciated it! :)

  • My pleasure.
