Open camera apart and remove the shutter. Then keep turning Mirror box gear to see if mirror goes up and down normaly with shutter being removed. If that's the case that means the problem is with damaged shutter.
I think you got a fake camera because it's 60D, not D60, and it even says D60, does not have the square for EF - S lenses, has something that says "Digital" on the bottom right corner (which the real 60D does not have), and the AF light indicatir is not so big on the real one.
I had the same problem, caused from a drop... anyway look into the camera with a flashlight and make sure the shutter curtain looks straight. Mine was crooked and so I took a pair of tweezers, and very carefully moved the shutter blades back into place and.... Whoola!!! it fixed it! good luck
This is a great camera. All of my camera equipment was stolen the other day, including my awesome d60. It was my main camera. its old, but its tough. i would try to fix it if it were my camera
Yes, its not working, so make it worse by making hte working parts hit each other over and over possibly making it worse... Shouldnt cost a fortune to have repaired
I like the scuff marks from your hacksawed ef-s lens conversion. You should have shaved a little more off. My 10d has the same marks. And yes my 60d will be here tomorrow from amazon.
such an old body haha

-D60 doesn't exist (60D does)
-It doesn't have the Canon EF - S white square where you put the lens (60D does)
-It says digital on the bottom (60D doesn't)
-It doesn't have the built in microphone (60D does)
-The AF indicator light is to big (60D's isn't so big)

Thanks for the reactions, I already bought a 7D, and before that a 20D, but I wanted to give my D60 to a friend, thats not possible anymore

Solution : ask all these people who told you to buy a new camera to give you money for it since they are so good hearted people.

I think if you smash it with a sledge hammer then set it on fire, then it should work again.
