take a look at que sera by wax tailor, I think you'll appreciate it from the looks of this great video. Cheers! Any tips for starting with Final Cut, I have both the full and current versions of Logic Pro and Final Cut and want to start doing videos
@shadypharmacist5 Cheers, I'll check it out. But my advice is to just start making stuff, you learn quickly that way, and search around for help if there's anything you get stuck on. Also learn as many of the basic keyboard shortcuts as you can, they'll make your life so much easier! Once you know the basics it's all quite simple really, the hardest part is just having a good idea/concept in the first place, but if you have one then just try and make it happen.
The song represents ancient past, civiliazations unknown, alien technology, etc much better so then the current video IMO. I guess I just think deeper.
It's not that deep to consider your own interpretation of something to be the ultimate one and to consider yourself deeper just for having that one. That's egotistical.
i like the video, most definately one of the best engineered songs to come from NIN and Aphex, takes me back to the 90's when natural born killers came out, that movie plays in my head everytime i hear it....to me it represents a struggle, a never ending up hill struggle.
tahts weird cuz since i been listening to this song for YEARS i too have thought of black and white cold war type stuff, mainly like russia war stuff that suited it because of the bassy baratone or whatever you call it, had a russian/black and white war sound
@camaroiowaguy23 from the sounds of all the comments I'd say that most people have shared a very similar vision while listening to this song, all credit to Aphex for making such a visual soundscape, I merely took it literally :P.
@Fractalfuzz right on man right on! i used to play 007 on n64 listenin to this song. the levels with the dam and runway and the big communications dish seemed to fit the song aswell. oddly enough my town is on the mississppi river and in winter its all black, and the ice covering the water makes it look like somethin on 007, and i play the song hangin out down there. its trippy my friend. oh and good job and thanx, glad im not the only one with the vision
@spinklevic Basically like I said I kind of had a strong visual interpretation of the song in my head. I literally just searched through archive.org for old films that had any shots that suited that vision. I knew I wanted production lines and warships and some propaganda so I just put stuff like that into the search engine and found some awesome films, some of those old B&W propaganda films have some beautiful shots.
This is outstanding! The feel of the old industrial war-time America, especially in black and white, goes perfectly with the music. I love how the epic-sounding brass mirrors the hugeness of the structures in the video... and of course, no need to even mention how the industrial beat fits the industrial setting. Nice finishing touch with the dead guys at the end. This is a true work of art.
This is awesome man! Well done! I wanna try working with Final Cut as well, but more for a short film type of setting. How long did it take you to learn the program?
@Minder666 Thanks! It's hard to say tho really. I've never worked with any other editing software either but I'm still learning a lot every time I use it. I did have to deal with final cut in my job for quite awhile, about 2 years I'd say, before I got my own set-up but I was only doing the most basic of basics that can be taught to anyone in less than a day. This vid took me about 3 weeks just working on it after work, I learnt more making this than anything I learnt at work!
If the world ever comes to an end, i want to be standing on top of the tallest mountain watching it happen, listening to this. Such a fucking epic tune. Liking the video man, good work.
Amazing editing and sychronization for your first time w/ Final Cut... I majored in Radio-Television-Film at U.T. and half of the students videos were not as good as yours... you have the eye of the editor and the ear of the maestro... keep on makin vids man... you have some skill!! :-)
@indianajoint cheers, but all I know about the places in the film is that they were factories in America. Most of those shots are from a film called Steel: A Symphony of Industry that was made in 1936, you can download it from archive.org if you want.
this is wonderful. this has always been one of my favorite songs, and a large part of the the reason i wanted to get into music, and production. thank you for this loveliness.
@oppenheimer2006 cheers, and I checked out that vid, Nice work, I'm actually working on a clip using that same Ghosts track :P And yeah, we used a few of the same archive films, even used some of the same shots, so yeah, definitely a parallel.
I watch this video all the time. You have done an incredible job capturing the moods between the song and the subject matter of this video footage, wonderful work! You binded them together beautifully.
Very good, very good indeed, I believe! You clearly cared a lot about this project, and it shows. You did great considering your purpose and the source material.
I like how you explained exactly what you visioned in your mind. I'm very much like that. I used to listen to this album alot in the 90's. It was just in my head today and thought I'd search it. Love you tube. I'll check out your other stuff. I kind of vision industrial alien environments. Then someone lighting a flare up close.
Thanks for the kind words guys, you've encouraged me to go and make some more...but I probably would of made more anyway...but you've encouraged me none the less!
the first minutes caused a flashback, i worked in a coppermill a few years back, the connection from production to warfare is great, this video is awesome! i love this song! great job you did here pal!
