  • nice one!

  • Just quietly crying in bed watching this right now. God damn, I love them both so much it pains me.

  • can you download this song??

  • Never thought a harmonica could make me tear up.

  • Now, don't get me wrong - I enjoy and have great respect for most pop singers out there, they are enormous fun and I wouldn't be able to do what they do. But this? This is art... And I am so grateful to have witnessed it.

  • + + + + + :-)

  • I like how Ryan gives Laura knucks at the end

  • @thommywilson was that at the forum, yeah? i was there too!! she was heaven!

  • Im....speechless. There are no words.

  • this song is so fragile, I´m afraid of breathing too loudly when i listen to it

  • this is fantastic. in a goosebumps kinda way. thank you!

  • silence is the coolest instrument ever

  • the ONLY problem with this is that I havent known about this for 2 months!! 2 months!! where the fuck have i been!!

  • Oh my sweet lord this is heaven in a song!

  • 3 people have no souls

  • @treyt30 Sorry no, three people have no functioning brainstem's.

  • he looks like the guy on honey i shrunk the kids

  • @Meadou The name you're searching for is Rick Moranis. A Comedy Legend.

  • I don't like that he sings everything so high now. I mean, if you listen to Heartbreaker he sings it with that kind of devastating, beautiful deep drawl. Don't get me wrong, I love DRA and the new album is sick, but I don't understand the change in voice.

  • @dogman652 People's voices change, he hasn't sang with the Whiskeytown/Heartbreaker voice since that album. Lack of drawl is probably because he hasn't lived in the south since Heartbreaker.

  • @dogman652 I've found that to be true with a lot of artists. I think over time it's just the result of aging. People's voices change and he was in his prime back at Heartbreaker's release. I've noticed it with Thom Yorke as well.

  • @dogman652 How can he sing it "so high" when he sings it in just one half step up from its original key, and with the same vocal melody?

  • Great, but nothing can beat emmy lou's harmonies!!!!!

  • Incredible. Who knew Austin Powers had such a great voice?

  • She was actually so amazing! I make music my self and she is my main influence and I can't believe I was only three or so meters away from her! So fucking brilliant! She did play a new song, she didn't disclose the name but it was rather sad and in a minor tuning, but it magnificent! Seriously!! She also covered winding wheel by Ryan Adams! So pumped! I want to finish my record tomorrow!! Haha!

  • @thommywilson cant believe she covered winding wheel..its one of my fave ryan adams songs..gonna look for it now haha

  • that harmonica just made me shit myself

  • @bedbox now I know why you wrote this D:

  • @bedbox yeah, it definitely shocked me out of it sure enough!!

  • IM SEE LAURA TONIGHT!!!!! SO FUCKING EXCITED!

  • @thommywilson how was she ? did she play any new stuff ?

  • I don't think you realize the pureness of your voice... ty for your music

  • which album of his was he talking about at the start ???

  • @Dublingooner89 refers to her 2nd album, "i speak because i can" whilst he was writting his most recent, "ashes and fire". in my opinion, 2 of the best albums about. and her 3rd is sublime.

  • @lollieb8 i'll have to check out ashes and fire. you're right her third album is beautifal, probably her most mature album yet, I Speak Because I Can is probably my favourite though :)

  • @Dublingooner89 Ashes and Fire is a stunning album. I was more than very happy to see it get into the UK top ten album chart when it was released. Another great work from Ryan.

  • @Fenner1976 heartbreaker is the only album of his which i have listened to numerous times so im looking forward to sitting down and listening to his others, he has certainly released a lot of them

  • @Dublingooner89 Very true. Heartbreaker is a classic album. He is a highly prolific writer with real subtle skill. Watching him play his live acoustic sets are just about as perfect as you can get. Other albums to go for are "Gold", "Easy Tiger", "29", "Cold Roses", "Demolition" and the very cool, introspect "Love is Hell", although there are many to choose from. The unreleased "48 Hours", "Suicide Handbook" and the "Bedhead" series bootleg/compilations are all terrific.

  • I think I just found heaven.

  • I was living in a cave kind of almost for real.

  • I love that they fist-bump at the end. Too cute!

  • Just died.....

  • It would freak me out if the harmonica DIDN'T come in at that point.... :)

Also why is LM's head stuck at a funny angle? She looks like she needs a foam collar thingy....

  • @followthelights100 She's looking at the lyrics, I think and then lining up to the mic.

  • I didn't get much sleep last night and have been watching/listening to a variety of Laura Marling videos cause she'd new to me and her music is just superb. Anyway, feeling like an idiot here for not having "discovered" Ryan Adams before this either (ugh), his singing - and her's - just lulled me to sleep only to be jarred awake by the intro of that harmonica - hahaha. I replayed that harmonica part to see if it was just cause I was asleep but nope - that was pretty strong! ;) Beautiful song.

  • Laura Marling is a megababe.

  • Damn, he's ugly

  • @MrRazorblade999 You're here for the music.

  • @MrRazorblade999 are you serious ? ...maybe because of his glasses he looks like the singer of Weezer... but if it's not for the glasses ...i can't understand you... or... if he is ugly ...nearly everybody is ugly...you and me as well :)

  • i believe the harmonica makes it even more special

  • Comment removed

  • I really like how Ryan Adams is so real and raw in his performances and Laura Marling is so talented and absolutely beautiful.

  • Two of my favorite people in the entire world, my all time favorite song. this is too good to be true.

  • it simply doesn't get any better than this

  • this is the most wonderful thing i've ever heard in my life

  • Wow, like syrup on pancakes!

  • Just....wow.

  • Don't think Emmy's having sleepless nights.

  • Well. That's it. I'm dead.

  • NOW KISS

  • every damn time he played that harmonica i flinched. i love how he was like "does my hair look weird?" aw

  • ryan + laura = awesomeness.

  • I'm a L.M 'fan' but I actually think the version he did with his wife was better.

  • this needs more of laura's awesomeness

  • Laura's living the dream. <3

  • I think his harmonica sounds beautiful

  • There is an incredible female vocalist right there and you used a fingernail-on-the-blackboard-banshie-wailing-harmonica?

  • it brought tears to my eyes

  • @TheJoeGrosso Joe it is from a TV show on Channel 4 called Live from Abbey Road, where each week different musicians play sets (and on this occasion sign together.) Ryan and Laura were the featured musicians in that episode. You can see the whole thing if you're in the UK and have access to 4oD

  • Whoa whoa whoa.. is this a Ryan documentary?? What is this from?? Someone answer me NOW!! I am annoyed that i don't know of this sooner.

  • @TheJoeGrosso it was laura marling and ryan adams performin in abbey road

  • @ciam07 well yea i know that's what the video was of haha but i'm asking was this scene taken from a documentary, video blog, tv show, etc.. or is it literally just a youtube video? Like i imagine there is more to it and this is just one clip.

  • anyone know what key the harmonica is in???

  • @kevinfaulkner00 Well he is playing the song in the key of D#. He plays it like it's in the key of C but he has a capo on the 3rd fret therefore it's in D# (he is using standard tuning). So i would guess you would want either a D# / Eb harmonica OR a G# / Ab harmonica since a lot of harp players use 'crossed position'. I would bet my life it's one of those two. Both would work but not sure which of the two he is using. Hope it helps.

  • i bet she loved every minute

  • Should of used Laura 's voice more....silly man,,!

  • @hurdy72 Listen to the original. Here's only so much harmony you can add.

  • she's adorable.

  • someone got the full length version of "new york, new york" readyto hit the tube?

  • it's all about a very beautiful meeting

  • this just made my down day end on a high. :)

  • its all about whoever wrote the song, she has a nice voice, Ryan Adams is one of the most prolific songwriters of all time

  • Comment removed

  • aw I remember laura saying long ago that Ryan was her hero. she must have been so excited to do this, i'm so happy for her

  • that is one loud ass harmonica

  • although laura isn't singing that much here, i really like the harmony laura is singing.. more duets from laura and ryan, please! :D

  • Wow. This came across tumblr and I thought, "Cool," but I didn't watch it. I have ALWAYS loved this song by Ryan Adams. And Laura Marling is one of my favorite musicians. I admire her so much. So, naturally, this stood out to me. AND THEN I WATCHED IT. I did NOT expect it to hit me as hard as it did. It blew me away, warmed my heart, moved my soul, and brought me to tears. It's stunning. It is hauntingly heartbreaking; in the BEST way possible.

  • 'Does my hair look stupid?'

  • Comment removed

  • But Laura is awake?

  • my 2 favourite artists; amazing to see them play together, especially when they're obviously both influenced by one another. they never disappiont.

  • this is so beautiful

    crying

  • when i saw laura at the colston hall in bristol last year she said the first gig she saw there at 14 was ryan adams. i'm actually really proud of her.

  • Two truly great artists.

  • @ssjsonicssj - Ryan wrote this. Was on his first solo album Heartbreaker

  • is this a cover, or a ryan adams song originaly?

  • @ssjsonicssj ryan adams original - its off the heartbreaker album

  • How lucky is Adams ? getting to do a song with Laura

  • @JHDELIVERY22 how lucky is laura getting to do a song with adams?

  • @samsolor1989 That's your opinion, I prefer Laura Marling's music to Ryan Adams

  • Comment removed

  • @JHDELIVERY22 Sorry pal, it's the other way around.

  • @SprinkleGenie @JHDELIVERY22 i agree, its all about miss marling. so young, so much talent.

  • F*cking stunning!

  • I think he knew where I was going, he put Ryan Adams on. I think he thinks it makes me weak, it only ever makes me strong.

  • @kc42291 was literally about to write that :P

  • she looks a bit smitten with him :) i wish they would have given her more of the song. but they sound amazing

  • @abbeymons She wasn't even up for as much as EmmyLou. Prob a bit shy... bless!

  • He could have given her a verse! Greedy Adams!

  • This is wonderful, two of my favourite artists singing together.

  • I wished to hear more laura... anyway it was awesome!

  • she must have been so happy

  • YEAH, THIS IS WHAT I WAS WAITING FOR

  • Amazing
