  • Daleks and Ukuleles rule! haha you're right Aquila Nylgut sounds better with an Hawaiian zing!

  • please tell me the chords for the song at 2:51!

  • What is the name of the song starting around 1:00? I've heard it so many times before and I can almost hear the lyrics in my head, but today I'm drawing a blank.

  • Sorry, must make a correction - the strings I used on my concert uke were Pro arte concert uke strings not the extra hard tension guitar strings used in the video.

  • I like the Aquila best, the sound is crisper and clearer, the Pro-arte sound a bit dull and muted in comparison. I tried some Pro-arte on my concert uke and I think the sound was too mellow, they lacked the "zing" of Aquila or Worth, I also found that any slight movement when pressing down the string sent it out of tune.

  • @avonflow interesting.

  • Do the Pro arte's have a low g?

  • @stinkylungs I would assume that they have that gauge, although I don't know what it would be.

  • It pains me to say this, but I think the DA's killed the aquilas on that uke. Just ordered a set from UU.

  • i use nylgut, and i am going to try out the pro arte's...... but the the pre arte, aquila, and worth are the best 3 out there... so either way you cant go wrong!... hey! get a uke for each! i have o ne for my normal and one for my low G...

  • ah, i have so much to learn! thank you for this video.

  • uh-oh..i'm in trouble..when i first got my ukulele, these string comparison videos were slightly entertaining to me..NOW i find them absolutely intriguing lol. thanks for sharing with us.

  • Nice Mix Musik - great motive aus Film ? Peace :-)

  • these are always helpful to a guy like me.. i know nothing about strings.. but i need to learn!! this helps.. nice job allan!

  • I'm cheating, because I also have ukes strung with both - but the Aquilla wins hands down for me. Sound, playability, feel - all what I'm looking for.

The Pro-Arte's are thicker, and feel nasty to me. Like toy strings. The sound is fair - but I like the attack and snappy response from the Aquilla's

    thanks for the review man!

  • Exterminate ! Sorry, flashback.

Like the guitar strings, personally. Great comparison ............. thanks.

  • thanks..very helpful i like the guitar strings

  • You are wearing a Dalek t-shirt!

Oh, cool comparison, by the way. I liked the Aquila's for strumming. For finger picking I could go either way.

  • The pro-artes seem to have a more balanced sound. Although Aquilas are very popular, I find the fluorocarbon classical guitar strings to be better on ukes that are built so support full sound. Thanks for the review.

  • I just let my mom see this she like the Aquila Nylgut.

  • like both

  • I don't know...the D'Addario's sounded mellower, but I really like the Aquila's better...seemed "sassier" and more uke like to me. I have an Alvarez masterworks with D'Addarios on it, and they are nice strings, but not my fave on a uke!

  • I like the Pro-Arte sound better. I started off using Aquila strings and just changed to brown Worth strings which are way different in feel and sound. I think I need to try the Pro-Arte now. I may be wrong but I think D'Addario now packages a set of Pro-Arte uke strings so you do not need to get the individual guitar strings.

  • I'm really an Aquila man, but here the guitar strings sound great too... But those bright sounding red cedar tops would probably sound even better with a mellower string, like the Worth brown extra tension perhaps?

  • Definitely more depth with the guitar strings. Good info!

  • The Pro Artes definitely sound better. cool comparison video alan.

  • The Pro-Arte strings seemed to have a slightly fuller sound to my ear, which I prefer. The first set sounded just a bit "tinnier".

  • I think the second ones. I have Pro-Artes on my tenor, too and I like them. But then i like Aquilas too! Oh dearrrrr...

  • Very clearly compared, Alan.

  • the first strings sounded brighter

    second shirt was whighter

or maybe it was the angle

  • I like the second part of the video more, because I like the t-shirt and the strings sound better to me.

I tried classical guitar strings (Savarez red label - hard tension) on a tenor uke, and liked it. But the Savarez are too expensive...

  • The second.

  • I have to go with the Daleks.

  • the second t-shirt was more relaxed but the strings played cleaner. The Aquilas were also good, they would be great for strumming country although the T shirt has more hoighty. Thanks for sharing your experiment as I was wondering about the Pro-Arte. Although at this point more choice is not a good thing for me. Aargh!

  • i like the second tshirt better. but the first one had knees in HD. tough call.

  • agreed, the second are awesome...those are guitar strings? hmm....

  • second no doubt.. they just sounded more professional i think.

  • The second one, definitely (:
