i found a 92 or a 95 sho not sure which it is for sale. $1200, im not sure what to look for in terms of what might be wrong with it. A co-worker of mine is selling it. He wanted $2500 at first i guess but he told me 12 because i've been friends with him for awhile and i really need a car right now. Can anyone tell me what i should have checked out on this car to make sure its not going to just die on me and even so is it worth the investment?
it is really kick ass. i have a 94 gl that i am dumping a 3.8 essex supercharged thunderbird motor in. it will be a rather fun car. good luck to you and your taurus.
Wow, man. That thing is crammed in there. I wonder about the heat build up with everyday driving--not to mention high rpm's when your runnin' hard. I always thought it was strange how the 2nd gen SHO's were 3.0 if it was a 5 spd. and 3.2 if they were automatics. I heard Yamaha wanted more torque for the automatics so they increased the displacment.
How hard was it to take off the intake mainfold? I just recently bought a 1st gen 5 speed and I wanted to do a tune up (plugs, wires, ect) and intake are you using to replace the stock air box?
@ricxxxhxxie Its really not to bad but if its been awhile since the intake has been off your going to want to replace the gaskets. I would head over to the SHOforum.com and do some reading, you will find a lot of answers there.Just remember to search first.
I had a question ....How many miles you got on your SHO when u turbocharged it? cuz I own a 95 3.2 ATX wit only 120K and I wanted to know if I could put a turbo on mines or what are my options ?
I dont know if you figured out your hood problem, but the hood from a '92 to '95 mercury sable is a direct bolt on...the only difference is the center brace...the holes in the center of the underhood insulation from the SHO are in different places than the merc...otherwise no prob
@92sho16 I'm having problems getting the one I am trying to restore to lock down...It's a GL hood, but it just will not lock down...I went to a couple different junk yards and pulled a few different latches...but none have worked so far....Any suggestions?
@92sho16 ...couldnt find The SHO hood anywhere...Im looking to put a turbo on this thing....Just dont have the room under the hood...may decide to super charge her
@mayjahmann check out my hood on my sho its sick i have not seen another like it find me on facebook.... Marcus ivey florence, MS its a triple rise to a cut out....
Ford could of dominated the Sport sedan market back in 96 if their SHO came with a Yamaha DOHC V6 Low pressure Turbo that got 30 mpg instead of the gas thirsty v8 3.4.
And by theway what idiot decided to run exaust tube under the oli pan, I can't remove the dam pipe, due to the heat, the bolt welded into the mainfold, now it's driping oil, I can't do any thing about it.
@ZImpresive ...... there is a fix to that ... cut the pipe off right under the factory flange and weld a new flange to it then do the same behind the oil pan so when you need to drop the oil pan all you gotta do is unbolt the pipe .... there is the same problem with the ford focus and that is all you gotta do to fix it .....
This was the first fire of the vehicle, this was a temporary solution so i could move the vehicle out of the garage. Im running a smaller filter that is hidden behind the bumper now.
a family sedan that would spank any car you've ever had most likely. You must not understand the concept "sleeper" and have never owned one because then you might understand how fun it is to have one. derder
A 69 Camaro Rally Sport doesnt mean crap, a car that old, if stock, yes, the SHO will beat that. You might want to list what you have done to something that old, a stock reference is a bad comparison.
You didnt say not stock either, like I was saying, when talking about something that old, you got to list what it has, because odds are it isn't stock, and this Taurus would be a stock one, so just saying 69 Camaro doesnt say much. If you do really own that car (I own a lambo, see what I mean?) nice, car, but this is still a BA Taurus. Also out of all the performance parts on it, why would you name the clutch? Would tranny or rear end be a better choice?
What kind of idiot comes on here bragging about a Camaro and states it has a Hemi in it? So you are telling me all it has is a magical Hemi and a clutch? Wow, goodbye trans/diff.
It's most likely in the trunk. This is popular in racing, generally speaking and a good idea for a front wheel drive car. Redistributes the weight in a nose heavy FWD. Peace.
okay, so its on center? im wondering because i have the same turbo with the housing. mne spools slow but its on a 4cyl, i orderd a .69 so that should help out.

@yaboykevin1 Its the stock intake manifold painted to match the color of the car, ford paint code LA.
@mayjahmann not sure where your located but i have a hood, also have you checked ebay or the sho forum?

Very cool. I love when people modify SHOs. Better than any Honda or Mitsu on the block.

@mayjahmann, it will fit but i believe under heavy engine loading the engine will hit the hood.

Move your hood back or forward on the hood arms. The hood should be bolted into a slat where you can move it forward and back.

Tweecer, plugs into the eec module through a diagnostic port and piggybacks that stock system.

saying that it is bored to 3.2 probably means it was a 3 liter which would make it a mtx.

Actually if you are a SHO buff the fact that its a 92 tells you that its an mtx, 89-92 only mtx was available.
