I love the car too. I own one of the 05 Cashmere limited Editions and i love it. Hate to hear the negatives, but really still lovin my car. But, It's for sale.
Ha ha --- I love the comments - really funny ! Too bad you spent 40k for a timeless classic when you could have bought my 5.0 Pinto babe-magnet that I put a Flux-Capacitor into but it only goes back to 1973 ....
@Eidrian111 AHAHAHHAHAHAHA dude your hilarious....yeah the V8 LX and the Supercharged 3.8 were soooo bad. Dude go kill yourself, you know nothing about them.
I have this car, and as I read the comments, most seem crude. The car has one thing going for it - almost nobody else has one and when you pull up anywhere on the planet, you ALWAYS get a positive comment. So, for those of you who think the car is ugly and non-practical... tuuuu-shayyy. This is one car that has started to increase in value already. Now, go look at what is parked in your driveway!
@Xxwyzee I agree. I have had mine for 8-years now and it is in pristine shape even though I drive it almost every day. I get positive comments about it weekly-even in L.A. where exotic high-end cars are almost common. I paid stick for it in 2002 (43,000 out the door) and don't regret it. I could have bought another BMW or Mercedes and even those are nice cars I'd rather have my TBird.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder BUT I get at least one or two positive comments on my 2002 TBird-in L.A.! I doubt BMW or Mercedes drivers get any comments on their convertibles (I certainly did'nt when I had those cars).
This car has the same 3.9L AJ V8 from the Jaguar S Type, the Lincoln LS and Some LandRovers. I think it made like 280hp (in the Tbird) which was good for cruising and somewhat fun to drive. They should've offered a rare Supercharged version (Americans love SC) but they didn't.
Earlier Land Rovers used the 3.9L v8 & the Jag S type also used the 3.9L v8. When Ford owned them they tried to slap the same engines under the hoods and call it something different. Why? I don't know... Stupid I guess!
$44,000? Are you shitting me? What a piece of shit. Wow, it's got 50th anniversary insignia, who gives a shit. I have a '67 T-Bird and these newer birds have absolutely nothing on it. What a piece of junk!! $44,000 REALLY?
They should have made it lighter and put in a v6 , it would still be the same boring cruizer for old people but much cheaper to buy and operate. Not to mention the interior looks no more retro than the lincoln ls. what where they thinking?
One problem was it was to expensive for a Ford. A fully-loaded Mustang GT convertible was 10k less. The 2002-2005 TBirds are great looking well built cars and will be one of the very few classic cars of their era.
there is nothing wrong with power plant, nothing wrong with it desigh,as said its relaxed two seater. people demand so much, but this car delivers on fun, value, and owner pride.
I think ford should have made the interior look more vintage, putting in a more powerful engine would have been better, and I would have even put tail fins on the thing, that would have made it look a lot sleeker.
It is a CAR!

The Jag has a 4.2L
The T-bird has a 3.9L
and the Land Rover has the same 4.2L as the Jag

88soulsurvivor 2 years ago
Nope the S-type used to use a 4.0L never a 3.9L and im not really sure about the Land Rover but im 99.9% sure that the jag has never used a 3.9L

The 4L v8 is just a bored out 3.9L. same block.

What about the 4.2L?

@JaguarcarsLmt
The 4.2 is just 4 V twins stuck together.

new ford thunderbird is still NOT good design..
ford is a lousy poor job..
my thumb down on this ford system..
1 - NO 2 yellow amber lights on the rear taillights for turning sign..
2 - NO good 2 front yellow amber lights for turning signs on the headlights..
3 - NO good gas - in a hole on the right side while a driver on the left side
