  • Adm. Shima's Cruisers and destroyers also engaged oldendorf...disasterously.

  • They never mantioned the cruiser force following Ise and Hyuga up to Oldendorf..by 10 minutes, or the destroyer force near Manilla, a total of 5 Japanese forces in the area

  • I only wished it was possible to capture a battleship Yamato at the late stages of the war that way it can be a museum.

  • @Navyfieldguy A) No they aren't. In fact 95% of the stories told are factually accurate. The 5% is acceptable considering this is a US produced "action tv show." B) Learn what propaganda is. C) Navy video games don't teach you anything.

  • @Navyfieldguy Your ignorance overwhelms me. I learn history from TV? It'd be an understatement to say that I've read more WW2 Literature than you've read books in your life. I've written more essays on the subject than you've probably even care to glance at. I've even been asked to teach a HS war history class and I'm not even out of college yet. You dare to go onto my channel and criticize me personally and the work of others; you are an embarrassment to those who enjoy history.

  • @BigBoyFatso I will not reply again as you have clearly shown me that you are incapable of having an intelligent conversation and have proven that your ''facts'' come from TV shows.

  • You are a "31 year old self employed man" who plays the online game "Navy field." Nothing on your channel demonstrates your thorough knowledge on the subject and none of your text reflects that either. In my videos, you can read my responses to user questions, where I reference outside sources and answer questions that are not mentioned in the video. I don't think you need to worry about replying again, your blocked. And I'm glad that last comment offended you, it was meant to :)

  • hard to watch such beautiful ships get taken down....wish at least one of the super battleship survived the war would have loved to see them up close. This is war i guess.

  • Halsey was a dumb ass.

  • @hardguns62 People make mistakes. Doesn't mean their a dumbass.

  • @hardguns62: Oh yeah?! Why?!

  • @hardguns62 incomplete information does not make a da.

"Turkey trots to water.Where is task force 34? The world wonders." 2 parts of this message to Halsey from Nimitz was coding to prevent listeners in Japan from 'seeing' the real message. ! of @ parts of the Padding was removed before delivery to Halsey."Turkey trots to water." Just 1 example of foul ups in pre computer days in the radio room.

  • @PANZERDEAL oops...1 part of 2... turkey trots and world wonders were supposed to be padding to be removed. A straight question became an insult, just because a radio operator missed 1 part..

  • @hardguns62 MacArthur had it right."Leave this man alone. He fights."

  • Dont forget bismack

  • japanese didn`t have airforce that`s why they lose on america...

  • 3:05 GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOALLLLLL!!!!!!

  • Google Archives, News Paper Headlines, Japan's Greatest BattleShip Sunk In Big Sea Fight. Americans Sink Japan's Biggest BattleShip. Those are just some of the Headlines in archive Newspapers.

  • America kicked some serious ass in this war. Holy shitttt

  • what if the powerful 3rd fleet had stand at its positions to counter japanese battleships and cruisers instead of attacking the japanese carriers?

  • @MrPro897: In a fight between what was left of Center Force ( 4 BBs (actually 2 BB and 2 BC - Yamato, Kongo, Haruna and Nagato) with 6 Heavy Cruiser, 2 Light Cruisers and 11 DDs) and Olendorf's 5 Pearl Harbor survivors and 1 other "older USN BB", would not have ended well for the IJN

The old girls didn't have the best radar in the USN, theirs was better than their IJN counterparts and they had their own CAs, DDs and planes from the Taffys

No need to sink a ship to make them ineffective

  • @MrPro897 because up to 2 forces would have you in a cross fire with the best torpdoes in the world at the time, which at Guadalccanal sank severial cruisers with single hits..

  • Which part and what time was it with the bomber flipping off the japanese?

  • every bomb always makes an ear shattering sounds or a screams when they fall.Maybe they should call ,rather than bombs, it screamers

  • Love the music and the sounds! GREAT VIDEOS! To bad those huge battleships sunk in such deep water. Those would be such great places to dive to.

  • Love the music and the sounds! GREAT VIDEOS!

  • The markings on the front end of the Yamato and Musashi represent their namesake, Prince Takeru Yamato. The story of Takeru is one that defines the origin of the Japanese spirit, one of a brave, bold and determined man who went as far as dressing up as a Geisha to infiltrate and kill other clan leaders that opposed the Emperor. His name today is commonly used, having both parts of it representing strength; Takeru meant "The Warrior" and Yamato meaning "The mighty" or "Powerful"

  • thats true they didnt go down easy they put one hell of a fight before going down

  • man its unbelieveable how those japanse ships refused to go down they fought to the bitter end and kept fireing and fireing till they sunk this just shows the true samari sprite the japanese had

  • im so FREAKING HAPPY THAT I LIVE IN CANADA NOT THE USA

  • battleship-heavy fleet stand no chance against fast and maneuverable bombers with fighter escorts

  • Its funny, they STILL do not mention the "small boys" of Taffy 3. They managed to take out 2 ships before the Carriers got there... sheesh.

  • 7:24 the Battle of Surigao Strait the Japanese Empire and the US NAVY are battling like pirates. 8:35 the Ghost of Pearl got them USS Maryland killed Yamashero,USS West Virginia killed Fuso,California,Mississippi, and Tennessee killed the destroyers, and Pennsylvania never fired a shot. as for Admiral Nismashira he died at the helm and went down with his flagship to meet his maker. 7:50 by "Crossing the T" the Japanese Navy died and this was the last time it was used.

  • @geomodelrailroader Wee Vee fired 93 rounds in 14 minutes..BB 48!

  • @PANZERDEAL those Jap ships could not fight back it was a blood bath. Crossing the T is a deadly move all guns are pointed at the bow of the lead ship it is like a convict walking up to a firing squad.

  • 0:00 Musashi is going to join her Nazi friend Bismarck under the sea. this will show the Nazis and the Japanese Empire that bigger is never always better. 4:30 Halsey is going to avenge Pearl Harbor Mr Hit Them Fast Hit Them Hard is walking into a trap . 6:00 it worked Task Force 2 of the Japanese Navy is headed to Manila. but we will not let this battalion of Banzai Troopers to land on Manila. go get them boys. watch out Japanese Empire. Big E friends are back from the dead.

  • @TheWoodstock2009

Those 10 hits where near the magazine compartment. As the Yamato listed, she exploded resulting in her breaking in two. The Hits on the mushashi where not near the magazine and therefore she didnt break. The Tirpitz and Arizona did explode.

  • @CorporalDeath67 Wrong Battle. You are referring to The Musashi because Yamato survived the battle and went on for her final mission in Operation Ten-Go, "Operation Haven's honor" in 1945. Musashi was sinked by torpedo's in 1944, in the Battle of Leyte gulf.

No trying to diss you, just bettering your knowledge. ^_^

  • @NJP695

Im sorry, this is in reference to what exactly. I know i was taking about when the Yamato turn upside down and her magazine exploded. Could you give me some details? I may be missing something.

  • @CorporalDeath67 You just mistaken the Musashi for the Yamato, Thats all. ^_^

  • Oh my gosh I love these videos

  • YEA! My Country!

  • they use a lot of clips from the dogfights series. ive noticed a lot of clips in this episode from the Death of the Japanese Navy episode of dogfights .....

  • also allot of misplaced clips. Mushashi didnt explode, Yamato did. They should redo these correctly.

  • @CorporalDeath67 pfft yamato broke in two and sank because of 10 torpedo hits. i dont remember reading anything about what happened to the musashi but i am sure that the Tirpitz and the Arizona exploded

  • i love the sound a bomb makes when it's falling.

    WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

  • @iprefertrousers or diiiiiieeeeeeeee

  • Surigao strait - the Jap ships were pretty much sunk by destroyers before the BBs and cruisers got involved; Fuso and 3 of 4 DDs sunk or crippled by torpedoes, Yamashiro hit hard. The big guns sank BB Yamashiro and lit up CA Mogami's topsides without stopping her. Mogami was scuttled after CVE airstrikes the next day, only DD Shigure escaped of Nishimura's force. Read Tony Tully's new book on The Battle of Surigao strait which fills in the Jap side and solves puzzles re: Fuso, and Shima's role.

  • It's always tough seeing those battleships taken down by swarms of planes. HMS Prince of Wales, IJN Musashi and Yamato, USS Arizona, etc.

  • @IronBrig4 don't forget the Bismark!!

  • @IronBrig4 prince of wales was taken out by planes? i always thought it was submarines but you probably know more than I do..

  • @fatty1443 You're thinking of the Royal Oak, sunk by a U-boat at the Scapa Flow naval base in 1939.

  • The Japanese carriers may have been an "empty threat". They may also have been tacticallly irrelivant to the battle, but they were valuble strategic targets...

  • Lessons Learned:

    1. Naval operations without aircover are suicide.

    2. The ability to absorb punishment has to exceed your enemies ability do deliever punishment.

    3. Once you are engaged timidity is not an option.

  • They used the wrong clip for this episode... Musashi didn't blow up as CGI depicted on 3:08...

  • that may be true but you know us americans it just wouldn't be as cool if it just kind of take on water and disappears under water

  • they just simply put in any clip that look preety much the same

  • well thanks anyway!

  • i got a question, what does the emblem in front of yamato resembles for? is the yamato part of the imperial fortress?

  • I haven't noticed an emblem in front of the ship.... And I'm not quite sure an "imperial fortress" exists, maybe you misheard something?

  • oh.. when i saw the front view of battleship yamato, i saw something shiny, measuring 2 meters in length...or it was just something for a design or something!? *sigh* i'm getting confused here!

  • I think you are talking about the imperial japanese navy's emblem, which is like the japanese flag but without the white background.

  • It's Imperial Crysamamum. It is the symbol of the Japanese Royalty they put on everything.

  • The Imperial Chrysanthemum (get your spelling right!) is used to describe the throne of the Japanese emperor. Although it is true that it was located everywhere, the yamato was not one of them. See the difference in shape and color if you doubt me.

  • That is what it is. It is the Imperial Japanese shield.

  • @Nelly449 its the emperial seal is a lotus flower it is supposed to show this ship is protected by a devine being ((the emperior))
