  • I crack up at people who think they know music. I introduced them to Stevie, I get in arguments about him. In my book his the best guitarist ,vocalist of all time. No one comes close !

  • Billy Gibbons uses a similar guitar given to him by SRV himself that says Rev. Willie G on the neck instead of Stevie Ray Vaughan on his. You can see it if you look for the "Just Got Paid: Double Down Live" from 1980.

  • S R V ! AMEN

  • "no" note iz a note:) thank????

  • Thank you for this it makes my soul feel better!!!!

  • Just heard this on the radio. Been a long time since the day I saw SRV at the Wiltern in LA around 1986/87?. Still the best. Nothing compares today with how SRV played.

  • Best Version from SRV& DT

  • i just thank god for stevie ray and that i got to see him twice

  • totally love it!!

  • fuckin amazing...been listenin to Stevie a longtime...

  • Da ist der originale Strathals zu dürr für die fetten Saiten,..auf keinem Video ist der Sound so intensiv wie mit dieser Klampfe deren Herkunft ich nicht kenne.

  • @grrr21766 Des is "Hermione".

  • @grrr21766 keine Ursache^^

  • So much soul and talent and sorely missed. RIP Stevie and thanks for posting this killer footage!

  • Albert King said once that lots of people can play fast but they ain't got no soul. Albert said Stevie was the only one that could do both. \m/ \m/

  • stevie practiced with 13's he played live with 11's.it was known that in his coc. days he would use three packs of strings to make up his set,a 13 for an e,a 17 for b, and an un woven 26 for g,the rest were 17 gauge jazz strings.only for rehearsal and practice.he would use smooth woven jazz string for everything else...to keep strong fingers.besides that the tone lie in the dead mans hand.

  • is this concert on DVD?

  • There is NOBODY better than SRV!!

  • Sounded a little like Jimi Hendrix at the end of the song. Another jam where Stevie's band is tight, tight, tight.

  • I fuckin hate that guitar, his tone always seems to loose its ballsyness( Im totaly adding that to the online dictionary) when he uses that damn thing.

  • He's the only guitarist who makes a tone so intense you can taste it, sounds crazy but i listened to 'The Sky is Cryin'(Live).......thought i was eating opal fruits man.

  • God I love himm:))

  • bad ass he was, how can you not like srv, wtf

  • my dick runneth over!!!!!!!! my balls pop in and out to the rhythm!!!!!! my anus tightens up and squeezes out just enough shit to call gravy!!!!!!!! i have been fucked!!!!!!!!!!!

  • great tone from this guitar...in his hands anything is good...I think he had a cover pic done for GP mag with it..I always wonder where do guitars go?....the ones we see in vids like this or whatever?...where are they now?...srv...magic sam..freddie king...albert k....etc....thanks for this post....

  • This is some of Stevies sharpest stuff I've seen on video. I was in my early 20's when he hit the scene. I was frustrated with Clapton who didn't seem to play hard enough, Stevie changed things with his style.

  • love how his scarf gets in the way

  • 1 dislike? How can you dislike this? :O

  • Moreover, by the end of life he had to move down a gauge, sometimes several due to severe hand cramping and pain issues.

  • Y'all know that this particular guitar had active electronics in it?

you can kind of get the sense of it on the top end. The compression is slightly more refined than normal.

  • 0 dislikes. now that's respect.

  • @SRV4Life1 thanks to you now theres 1 dislike. good job. lol. im just kidding

  • Yum! Thats all I can say, and im talking about the sweet music to my ears. RIP SRV 4EVR.

  • 0 dislikes!

  • @luksik2 well then,im going to dislike it..

  • (omish): man i would totally pick all my corn like 3 months early for this tone

  • Awesome!!!

  • do you have to do something to ur guitar to put on .13s? i put them on my old strat and part of the part that holds the strings broke off. i bought a american strat a few months ago and don't want to break it just been using 9's for mnow

  • @voodooblueskid you'll likely have to have your guitar neck nut slots filed a little wider for the wound strings, particularly that low E (Eb in SRV's case).

  • no is not true ..14 was the highest he went...im from texas.. actyually a few miles to the west of Oaklif TX, were he was borned..

  • Considering we're watching something that is 25yrs old, damn this is a great quality piece of flim !!

  • Oh God you gave us such a great artist, but I think after you saw what you had made you wanted him with you, thank you for what you gave us, he is truly great...

  • The snobbyest indie punk anti-pop/soul monkey on the planet would enjoy this shit shit man. Dig.

  • Sin desperdicio

  • Love his Hamiltone!!

  • currently giving God lessons....

  • @FLIGHTCOMPANY I assume you mean guitar, not advice on how to dress

  • Love this music :D

  • I bet he's in Heaven jammin out!

  • @SuperRockgod666 Strings from .011-.058! fender super reverb tube amp. ibanez tube screamer on clean sound, drive set zero and tone full. and univibe for the psychedelic thing.. for distortion another tube screamer. strong hands and and yeah, soul.

  • @MBSRV if you all enjoy watching these then go buy the dvd

if this gets removed you have a copy. plus, this is still pirating music isn't it? we don't own the dvd.

For me, when my artists I enjoy have new music, I order the CD to my doorstep, actual cd-r, not down via itunes. fuck that, I want cd case an all.

And if I live a concert like this one, I but the DVD. it's only fair. I'm gonna go hit up amazon and buy the DVD, like MBSRV seems to have done.

  • that guitar is better looking than most women.

  • The best guitarist ever!

  • SRV is a badass!!!

  • MBSRV, I don't know where you got this footage but everything from this show is great. Thanks.

  • Shiba Yubinchukin in dallas?

  • I would destroy several small villages for a tone like that.

  • @SuperRockgod666 you mean for a skill like that? ;)

  • @Smargiasso33 For a SKILL like that? I would wipe out several countries.

  • @SuperRockgod666 yeah i believe u ;) btw what guitar is that?

  • @Smargiasso33 I can't tell what brand. Normally SRV uses Fender Strats, but I can't see the brand name on the headstock to verify what brand this one is.

  • @SuperRockgod666 i've done a quick resource on wikipedia and found out that guitar is a Hamiltone Lurktamer...they say the pick up are di marzio...i'm not an expert but they don't look like di marzio...

  • @SuperRockgod666 that's a hamiltone guitar, custom made, there's actually a few of those on sale, check it on ebay...

  • @SuperRockgod666 Thick strings, Texas pickups, Vibroverb amplifier, 5 strings to suport the thick strings (Stevie use to play with .013 - i read that sometimes he played with .018, idont know if its true). and the most important.. Soul! hahaha.. that is the part where we fail.

  • @lucascjardim And a part where everyone will, eh?

No mere mortal will ever be as good as Stevie.

  • @lucascjardim I think that you can get an "approximate" version of his sound with a couple of good tube screamers or clone versions and a strat. Of course, your hands are your hands and they create a unique sound that only you have. I use a .013-.058 set like he did and they really aren't that impossible to use. Chords surprisingly sound better than lead work with them.

  • @lucascjardim Yeah, I play with pretty much the same string gauges as Stevie. I run .013-0.56. There's a couple of videos on my channel, you can see I've heavily modelled my old Strat after him. What a legend, RIP Stevie.

  • @lucascjardim you are wrong, in this clip stevie used the hamiltone guitar, with active pickups ;) peace!

  • @pabletelli Hahaha.. True True! The Hamiltone is a dream! ( And i forgot to mention the Eb tuning! hahaha)

  • @lucascjardim if u cant get the amp that he had, then get a deja vibe

  • @lucascjardim stevie once said you only get the right sound by using the thickest gauge possible

  • @lucascjardim Well...i fail also to play a normal song, soul is my last problem!

  • @lucascjardim

Don't forget to tune down a half step, helps to bend those cable wire strings, lol

  • @lucascjardim and a tube screamer

  • @lucascjardim try it,its no going back,12/13.15.18.28.36.52/54.no breakage

  • @DanielGrozier 26/28 depends on your neck.

  • @lucascjardim Also, allot of people forget that Stevie's high powered overdrive was thanks to the sheer volume of his amps (they were at max), alowing the Tube Screamer to push it to a point where the speakers were basically ready to blow the roof off! But no one will be able to obtain Stevie's guitar prowess...his music was a force of nature for gosh sakes and his soul, his touch and tone will never be duplicated!NEVER!DON'T EVEN TRY HAHAHAHA!!!

  • @lucascjardim, I think the 18s was a blatant exaggeration but I do believe that sometimes 14s or 15s may have ended up on there when he didn't have any 13s and broke one... there's also other false rumors how he cut out his finger and put lead int hem etc. but if he did that, the lead would tear through his fingers not make it easier to play 13s -- ask Tony Iommi

  • @lucascjardim what do u mean 5 strings to support the thick strings?

  • @CORACUPCAKE I meant "5 springs" hahaha

  • @SuperRockgod666 If playing too close to those small villages you probably would hahaha This must have been LOUD!

  • @grubnetseor Oh, I forgot to mention that that's actually my preferred method of destruction.

  • Comment removed

  • @SuperRockgod666 you can destroy my village,go home banging a bongo like a chimpanze!

  • Love the lick at 4:53 to 4:58....just an amazing version of this song....so great and groovin' hard.
