The rest of the game was pretty good, but taking back a useless water purifier from people who actually knew how to use it seemed obtuse. Why not help them? The Brotherhood is clueless as to how it works... anyway, great series overall.
@CheddarTheKnight I dunno. To me, the purifier and the fate of the wasteland kind of took a backseat to this kid who was just trying to find his father. Who you fallow from birth to death. So in all, I liked the plot to F3 over the rest. It was the David Tennant of the Fallout series.
@CheddarTheKnight First of all the enclave wants to release a F.E.V virus and kill off the entire wasteland they only needed to crack the pass-code and the entire wasteland would die the brotherhood however, they want to save the wasteland and they lost the base to enclave control and they need you to get it back because you have the all coveted pass-code so yeah unless you want to murder millions of innocent people then don't go with the encalve.
Fallout isn't just a game it is an experiences. It dose not mater what game you start with you will fell all of the emotions I did with the series and it was a mix of good and sad but all together amazing and even that isn't saying haw good it is.

@Renshato Cried ? no. I was pissed that the Overseer decided to exile the Hero rather than give him the hero's welcome. I was more impressed with the idea of the Master. At first I was disgusted by his mutated look and his proposal to change people into jolly green Hulk's. But the more I thought about it the idea grew onto me that this was the very best for the continuation of the Human race. Super soldiers able to work together and extremely enhanced. As far as villains go he was great!
@AvacadoDesperado actually, Super Mutants are sterile. they can't make more of themselves except by dipping humans in FEV. so one day, when there's no more humans, the Super Mutants will slowly die out, and the Unity would bring the final end to humanity.
i freaked out when tha enclave opened up on those vault dwellers with miniguns it was sad, because there wuz a kid, but then again it was kinda funny. this is how the fallout universe got started

@Maltrusion "Spoiler": It's when after you basicly save the Vault from The Master, but the Overseer wants you to leave forever. So there's a final cutscene in the game where he walks in Wasteland with his head down before the game goes to credits...it made me really sad to see it end like that....

I have to say that fallout is a great RPG for it great story lines and characters and I would say it better than all of the final fantasy games its even better than 7, and you want to know why... because ive never seen Cloud shoot a high powered laser gun powered by the sun into a horrific mutated man with machines built into him.

See, this is the difference between the originals and the 3D ones: The originals were RPGs, based on story and humour rather than shooting. The two new ones are shooters: Very, very good shooters, with very, very deep RPG elements (For shooter standards. Look at Mass Effect 2.) but they're still more action based than the originals were. Admitedly, the newest two are still very good games, almost as good as the originals. But they're still not 100% RPGs.
I love all the Fallout games, but Fallout 2 is sadistically, sometimes cheaply, difficult. You can't even find a basic pistol until the third town (you're given the basic pistol weapon the minute you leave the first "town" in all the other games).
how about everyone stops bitching about witch fallout is better and just enjoy them for what they are all of the fallout's are good...1, 2, 3, NV there all fun

Awww God! I remember...6-7 years ago when I played Fo1 and Fo2... I was like 11-12 years old then. In fact, I didn't understood to much, but Those games have completely sucked me in. I was spending whole days(sometimes even nights) on travelling through wastelands, killing rad scorpions and doing drugs in New Reno :D I spent over a month to end one....
Today developers don't do games like that. They do short games with good graphics for kids, to end them quickly and buy another one...
Was to young to play this game when it came out, was only 1 1/2 at the time, but from what I gather it seems to be a great game. prehaps i should buy the triology pack and try em out :)
@crazycozza83 I understand that. I also think Fallout 3's gameplay was great fun (even if unbalanced in some ways), and also its greatest feature. The worst feature of F3 for me was just the narrative/plot and the characters. It seemed somewhat lifeless, and lacked the wit and roleplaying depth of the originals. But it all comes down to taste I suppose. So far, I think New Vegas makes a nice connection between 1,2 and 3, and I appreciate its added depth.
@crazycozza83 the first 2 definitely have an advantage in the role playing department. Fancy graphics cannot make up for shallow RPG mechanics. The real question is, what kind of gamer are you? Do you prefer shooters, or flexible, non linear RPGs? Even if you're the former group, Fallout 1 and 2 are awesome, and the characters are memorable and the humor is spot on. Fallout 3 was a fun game, sure, but 1 and 2 are works of art imo.
@MrCodblog not impossible to compare, but it does say something about today's developers and the general audience. Many gamers today have never played some of the old school RPGs like Fallout, BG, etc, and so wouldn't know the difference.
Fallout 1 & 2, Icewind Dale, Icewind Dale 2, Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance 2, and last but certainly not least, Planescape Torment. ALL ARE MASTERPIECES!
I haven't played Fallout 3 or New Vegas yet, but I have to say that Fallout 1 is my favorite over Fallout 2. Fallout 2 progressed far too slowly, whereas in Fallout 1 you actually see some sort of progress by the time you've entered the Hub.

The terrifying atmosphere and the enclave soldiers' helmets will surely get into your memory, if you have some taste for fine games, from my opinion, fallout 3 has complete rubbish storyline, and so on. Haven't played nv tho. Fo2 is great, and you would be an complete moron to dislike it, and/or use cheats in it.

Ahhh, Fallout...the first true western RPG, and today remains perhaps one of the most famous, if not THE most. When you think of RPGs, you think of games like Baldur's Gate, Final Fantasy, and Fallout. Fallout helped define the genre, and while there have been many post-apocalyptic settings in games since then, none have ever really had the feel of Fallout. THAT is the mark of a masterpiece.
@enderq666 I think F3's storyline, while certainly lacking (and the ending sucked...all of them), still had some memorable moments scattered in the main quest, such as the first time you see a behemoth, and the sections with Liberty Prime were really well done, and in terms of story telling a lot better than Oblivion or even Morrowind. Still, the dialogue was a real let down, and hardly any of the characters were memorable, and the plot was of course too linear when compared to the originals.
@crazycozza83 They're kinda hard to play after playing modern games due to the interface and controls being tough in comparison, but I love the story every bit as much as the newer ones.
I think Mr Crowley is a reference to Aleister Crowley, the British occultist. It makes sense as his first name, Aleister, is used by Crowley's enemy, Tenpenny. I think it's to show that they're both as nuts as each other.

Fallout 1 and 3 are very similar if you think about it. they're both rather bleak, have a lower number of guns and abilities etc.
Fallout 2 and new vegas are also very similar. both are more silly (In a good way) have more guns and items, more things etc.
I just wish NV wasn't so sodding small. invisible walls either side of the map, cutting off about a third of exploration.
Here's hoping the next one using the skyrim engine is even better.

start with those, you won't regret it. They are the only Fallout games in the franchise,
don't let people tell you otherwise; 3 and NV may be fun to play, but they are not even close to being Fallout.

@crazycozza83 I understand that. I also think Fallout 3's gameplay was great fun (even if unbalanced in some ways), and also its greatest feature. The worst feature of F3 for me was just the narrative/plot and the characters. It seemed somewhat lifeless, and lacked the wit and roleplaying depth of the originals. But it all comes down to taste I suppose. So far, I think New Vegas makes a nice connection between 1,2 and 3, and I appreciate its added depth.

@crazycozza83 the first 2 definitely have an advantage in the role playing department. Fancy graphics cannot make up for shallow RPG mechanics. The real question is, what kind of gamer are you? Do you prefer shooters, or flexible, non linear RPGs? Even if you're the former group, Fallout 1 and 2 are awesome, and the characters are memorable and the humor is spot on. Fallout 3 was a fun game, sure, but 1 and 2 are works of art imo.

I haven't played Fallout 3 or New Vegas yet, but I have to say that Fallout 1 is my favorite over Fallout 2. Fallout 2 progressed far too slowly, whereas in Fallout 1 you actually see some sort of progress by the time you've entered the Hub.

Black Isle Studios made Great games, including Fallout 1 and 2 and Several other Classic RPG Games. Unfortunetley i'm not from that Generation of Classic Gaming, where RPGs were supreme, rather than first-person shooters whitch completley abandoned the Origional concept of Computer Gaming. It makes me sad that these True, Original Games were mostly Forgotten, or even Mocked by the Public. My Dad played Fallout 1 and 2 Constantly, And now he's handed them down to me. May B. I. S. @crazycozza83 God! You are stupid. Fallout 1 and 2 are the greatest RPG's of ALL time. Fallout 1 and 2 have one of the best storylines ever. The terrifying atmosphere and the enclave soldiers' helmets will surely get into your memory, if you have some taste for fine games, from my opinion, fallout 3 has complete rubbish storyline, and so on. Haven't played nv tho. Fo2 is great, and you would be an complete moron to dislike it, and/or use cheats in it.

Ahhh, Fallout...the first true western RPG, and today remains perhaps one of the most famous, if not THE most. When you think of RPGs, you think of games like Baldur's Gate, Final Fantasy, and Fallout. Fallout helped define the genre, and while there have been many post-apocalyptic settings in games since then, none have ever really had the feel of Fallout. THAT is the mark of a masterpiece.

@enderq666 I think F3's storyline, while certainly lacking (and the ending sucked...all of them), still had some memorable moments scattered in the main quest, such as the first time you see a behemoth, and the sections with Liberty Prime were really well done, and in terms of story telling a lot better than Oblivion or even Morrowind. Still, the dialogue was a real let down, and hardly any of the characters were memorable, and the plot was of course too linear when compared to the originals.
