  • @nitroray - please have your friend send an e-mail to sales@ostendo.com

  • Hobbs sent me

  • or...buy a real car.

  • ummm...so...there is a god...yea.

  • bor which lags the

  • I've checked the CRVD page to get one, but there's no "buy" section? Where can I get one of these?

  • @Gonzalitus - Unfortunately, we are currently out of stock and do not have any concrete plans on if and when we will resume the production. However, if you are interested in being updated in the future, we can include you in our mailing list if you send an e-mail to sales at ostendo dot com. Sorry for the inconvenience.

  • Looks really crappy to me. With those 3 monitors it looks like the FOV is set to like 250, but I know it isn't because as close as the view is on the main center monitor.

Also, good luck finding a GPU that will run that resolution with new modern games such as The Witcher 2.

Just doesn't seem right to me. I'll pas, especially due to this issue and the price tag.

  • 10 fps...no good gaming at all....

  • You'd think for over $6k they could figure out how to get the contrast/brightness the same for each internal monitor.

  • i would love to know if you can have 3 of those and have that full view effect while playing world of warcraft.

  • But will it blend?

  • wow.... 20k$ worth of monitor just to play a virtual racing game...... its better to buy an actual car...... hahaha

  • laaaaaaaaaaaaagggggggggg

  • Looks nice but for $20k Hell no not for rear projection . I can buy a New Truck for that .

  • Surrounded by 7.776 million pixels but if he wants to watch video in full HD he has to go somewhere else.

  • I've noticed alot of lag. Is this to do with the response of the monitor or the graphics card?

  • @TheAngelsReason - the response time on the CRVD is 0.02 ms, so it is super fast, so this was mostly due to the graphics card but also the video is not doing justice to what we were seeing in real life.

  • So what makes these hunks of plastic so expensive to make?

  • @KELLER135 - check out the specs on our website (crvd.com) and you may understand...

  • @OstendoTech

With the specs of the monitor it is even harder to understand.

25ms input lag, 60Hz, no pixel pitch given ...

Definitely NOT worth that much over stripping the bezel of 3 good displays.

  • @JoeBaermann @JoeBaermann - please take a look at the full specs on our webpage. Input lag & latency are different things. We have the fastest response time out there with 0.016 ms. The Immersiveness you get with a 48" radius of curvature is definitely unmatched by any flat monitor.

But at the end of the day, of course it all depends on whether it is a good fit for what you do, your applications and of course budget!

  • @OstendoTech Let flatpanels com do a test/review of the monitor so we can see what it is capable of.

  • @OstendoTech The specs aren't all that great, to be honest. They're average I'd say. The only thing exceptionally good is the response time, but anything under 12 ms response time really isn't noticable. My TV has a 12 ms response time and responds just as good as my friends HDTV which has a response time of 5 ms.

So the hardware doesn't justify the price tag. If that was so, Samsung's 32" HDTV's would be like $3500, but they're like $500-600.

  • $6500 moniter... probably a $200 9800gtx trying to drive all three of them...

  • @aptivaasdf - actually you would need the higher end AMD (HD 5970 or V8800) or Nvidia GTX 295

  • @OstendoTech Can't you feel the sarcasm.

  • epic lag lol

  • I would never leave my room.

  • that is fukin retarded, why are you driving but you can see the steering wheel. immersion murder

  • nice lagg fail

  • If your going for the complete immersive effect you need like 6 more 3 for on top and 3 for on bottom

  • @ZachIsTech - we are working on larger versions and can do custom versions based on demand.

  • That's like, $20,000 for the monitors.. why don't you just get a car and race it irl?? lol

  • @alexinnitro - because the people that can afford this are driving a $200K car:-) seriously though, this was more of a technology statement than anything else, though we have sold a few such setups including some universities that are working on virtual reality studies, etc...

  • what a horrible FPS in shift huh? you sure need a new graphics setup ._.

  • @Czyerx - This was our very first setup and yes we have upgraded to better graphics setups since.

  • Its cool and all but the problem with this is the side monitor graphics don't look proportional, they look stretched. I think a more effective approach would be to have a racing helmet that has a limited field of view but with a gyroscope to track your head movement and shifts the view accordingly depending on position of your helmut. I think that would be a lot more immersive vr.

  • @lg123xyz - agreed that the aspect ratio is a bit off on the side monitors especially for this particular application/game. However, there are tools correct for the aspect ration in games. In other applications such as Google Earth, this is a non-issue.

In terms of immersiveness though, it is really a personal preference issue. Some people cannot stand helmets, head-up displays couple with head-tracking, while for others this may be the ultimate solution. Thanks for the feedback nonetheless.

  • @OstendoTech When you say there are tools to correct aspect ratios in games, do you mean that ultimately you get to actually see "more" than someone that doesn't have the extra screen real-estate or pretty much the same but just on different screens? I'm wondering if this isn't a software issue, that the games just aren't designed for such large resolutions. Thanks for your reply.

  • @lg123xyz - one tool forexample is the Widescreen Fixer (widescreenfixerdotorg) which we have used in the past. It helps fix the aspect ratio of some of the games. Remember that almost all the new games do have built-in multi-monitor support, some just does it better than others. And with those that support it, you actually get to see additional content, the image just doesn't get stretched. see games compatbility page on our website - crvddotcom/compatibility.php#games

  • @OstendoTech Ok that's what I was wondering, if the Game developers actually offer additional content which support additional monitors (screen real estate) or just stretch existing content, thanks.

  • @lg123xyz - correct! and again almost all of the new games and their developers take into account the multi-monitor setups and we just piggyback on that built-in support...

  • u should by a pc that can run without lag before you buy those kind of screens

  • @Robinmeland - this was our first such setup almost a year ago. We have since been using much higher end PCs and graphics cards and have been running them very smoothly on the 3 CRVD setup.

  • Now it needs to be 3D lol

  • Seems pretty laggy...they need to get a better gfx card

  • i'm from russia, where buy this in my country?

  • @XShinAkumaX - e-mail us at sales@ostendo.com

  • @XShinAkumaX - e-mail us to buy it directly from Ostendo sales@ostendo.com

  • @XShinAkumaX in soviet Russia, monitor buy YOU!

  • Price down pls, thank you very mutch

  • @pater429 - our price is $6499 which includes free shipping + installation in the U.S. Regardless please e-mail us at erhan@ostendo.com for more info.

  • @OstendoTech i just cant afford that kind of money.

but good to see the price did whent down.

    I live in the netherlands.

Why dont you guys open a store here, i bet u will sell more then.

lots of ppl here that can afford them here.

or advertise more, most of the netherlands never heard of ostendo.

  • @OstendoTech

I would consider it at $2000 with perfect reviews. $6k ???? what a joke !!

  • The curve on these monitors isn't worth the extra 5 grand more these cost. You guys would sell a shit ton more of these if they weren't that expensive.

  • @DigitalisAkujin - agreed but it is a matter of economies of scale. This is still a very niche product, hence expensive to manufacture. This is the typical technology adoption cycle that we are going through. We would love to be able to sell it at $2K but it is not doable yet...

  • Even as a hardcore/pro gamer I still would not spend the hefty price tag for just one of these monitors, let along 3 of them!? These monitors will never catch on in the casual or hardcore gaming community because of the price-tag. I love the monitors though, they are def sweet!

  • hahaha for real, i much rather spend 18k on getting my raceing license and get all the lil racer bunny bitches haha. im a gamer but i just dont see how this is better than my 9ft x 5ft pamaramic projector that was only1200 bucks and ur shit lags, what are u getting like 30 to 40 FPS fix ur rig

  • Right, so, are you still in the business? I mean you can buy three 56 inch 21:9 Philips LCS tellies for 4800 quid (usd 7200) which is almost what you charge for one of these.

  • is it just me that notices those 3 lines on each display? like uneven backlighting?

  • this is cool and everythin but its better to stick with the regular lcds for now. this 3 curve monitor its just too much..one is good but (3). uhh

  • As much as i like these the resolution is terrible..

  • Aside from the fact that this is a video made by Ostendo, the production company of CRVD, but...

did you guys really think, someone who could afford to ship out 19.5k for 3 monitors, can't afford a real car?

seriously, cut that shit out, its making you look stupid.

  • @snorwax - this was a "technology statement" to show how 3 of our CRVD monitors could be hooked up together to create an unmatched immersive experience

  • i know you have alot of money and what not but i think you need to get a life so why not give all of your setup to the lest fortunate like me ^^

  • for gaming its good, but its not good for reading emails or watching movies.

  • Maybe add a few more 5970's before going for this :P

  • Looks laggy, expensive monitor but no quad 5870?

  • Ultimate Lag Experience....

  • @MouthofSaurons ..You dunno what lag is.

  • i think this video was made by the company who sell the monitors i don't think this person actually bought them.

  • This video was indeed made by us (Ostendo) but we have had customers that purchased 3 CRVDs for similar setups to the one shown in this video.

  • LAG!

  • @wally19 No lag, nweb. Try record a screen with over 40 FPS with a regular recording device. It's the camera. Rofl.

  • @mudkipzmw2 lag man... we can see this guy with decents fps but the game is running laggy

  • @wally19 Naw. Get it right. I repeat. "Try record a screen with over 40 FPS with a regular recording device."

  • Im so Jealous..Awesome Set-up Dude!!!

  • good screem,, but trash videocard!

  • I hope it doesn't force-strech the image to fullscreen if using lower rez.

  • @bboymassUK buying real cars is MUCH better than a sim. I love the adrenaline I get from my car and showing off :D 400hp ain't a joke! can't wait till I got 500hp :)

  • triple 5970 CF (= 6 gpu's) will never work, because cf only can manage up to 4 gpu's.

    triple 5870 CF should work.

  • wow how heavy is it looks amazing lol its looks like its sitting on 3 tables i like seeing my left and right sides of my car while in game

  • I hate it when people make stupid comments about buying real cars instead of using a sim.

    Looks cool, bit expensive mate.

  • FOV fail

  • low fps?

  • @defragen1

Yea, who wouldn't have low fps with those three monsters to power up!

  • I just came...

  • instead of buying those 3 monitors, i think it would be abit cheaper to buy and pimp a car....

  • for sure! :D

  • Cooler than being cool, it's ICE COLD! BUT i can only wish... guess i gotta stick to this 22 incher til the end like i did with ol' CRT for 6 years.

  • Comment removed

  • With price of that monitors one can buy pretty good car

  • Rightly SAID !!!

  • about 7gs each CRVDS

  • @Mik3Anix They've already done that.

  • Hmm... Rather drive my car

  • why does noone that has these rigs ever realise that with more than one monitor you need to change the fov to get the right aspect or its just stretching the same aspect over the resolution which makes it look like bullshit

  • lol yea

  • AT LEAST hook it up to a cluster...

  • *do

  • lmao@ lag

  • lol

1.5screens for both side windows and half a screen for the only one that really matters..the windcreen.

I can never work out why people want to see a virtual steering wheel and hands in front of there real ones...

I really hate these stretch'o screens...be ok if it was 3 different cams being rendered rather than just stretching the one over the 3 screens...

    Look stupid.

oh as for the screens...when the price drops...yer NP untill then no thanks.

  • ...i bet that most of the owners just have too much money or else they wouldnt buy those screens ^^

  • thats some very long doors on that car

  • Force Dynamics is much better and cheaper.

  • i found on the internet it costs 6500$ 1 monitor

  • great stuff but FOV is way off

  • omg, that is so f'n sweet

  • costs more than driving a real car

  • The monitors costs around 6500$ each.

  • That´s weird. The monitors costs like 100k and yet the computer lags the game?

  • actually about 17k

  • Comment removed

  • its 6k not 20k

  • 6k for 1, 18k for 3.

  • Shit, that can get me an actually car.

  • Sure you can, & you can actually open the windows & take in the fresh air, rather than sitting in a dark room & playing video games.

  • But if your rich...

    You can to both :3

  • и сколько раз ты на ней убиться сможешь? А других людей при этом сколько пострадает?

  • Laaaaggggssss

  • So..... jealous.....

  • 0.o

  • $6.5k ?! no thanx

  • i want it, but somebody has to make it a present to me, otherwise you'd have to lower the price ;)

  • Spooge much?

  • I'd like a company to say Screw it we're making a half dome 200". Now that I'd like to see. Prolly do 10 fps he he

  • now he needs to pay more for computer.

  • 20 FPS...

  • This frame rate cause you more likely a headache then somekinda super/awesome game experience.

  • laggy

  • Nvidia Physux screw this game :(

  • The field of view becomes so large that you have two screens showing a blurry mess that you can barely see because they are so far to the side. This is a complete fail setup. Just one monitor would be better than three in so many ways.

  • lagg lagg lagg

  • with $20,000 , buy a real car

  • I partially agree, I'd rather buy two or three nice motorcycles. Hehe.

  • Hmmm, good point.

  • @Ibrastix they've already done that.

  • @Ibrastix but u cant drink and drive legaly then:D

With those you can, in 2 months TDU 2 comes out.

  • tomshardware says this system costs around 20grand

  • just buy a car!

  • Low framerate...

  • Камеру бы ему поближе, а то как с заднего сиденья рулит )

  • This guy.

  • Pentium 4 processor ?

  • looks pretty laggy

  • laggy as SHIT. try again!

  • wtf...that game looked like it was totally blurred...looking at the video NO GO from me. If the graphics weren't sooo blurry it would be awesome

  • i bet you'd be singing to a different tune if you were sitting in that seat. it'll only look really good if you have the right perspective on the monitors. next time ur playing a 3d game, look at how extreme the angle of the buildings are at the corners of the screen. this just looks bad cause the camera is further back and doesn't have 180 degree field of vision.like humans.

  • ...

    Nerdgasm!

    *whimper*

  • The sound is nasty :(

  • You should try iRacing.... ALOT better than that POS game.

    Nice setup though :)

  • iRacing? LOL.

Having played Forza 2 and GT, I have to say the hate for this game makes no sense. It's a perfectly decent half-sim racer, just like the others.

    Heh, "iRacing," he says.

  • And what is wrong with iRacing? I can definitely tell you that the physics are much better than Shift.

  • Sure, physics is a good thing. But at what cost? That game is more sterile than the ICU. Aside from the stoic atmosphere and cardboard presentation, there's a reason why authentic simulations don't sell.

  • iRacing is supposed to simulate real world racing. It is going to be kind of dull. The tracks are identical to the real life.

They don't have all of the extra crap that arcade games put in them to attract people.

NFS, Forza, and GT compared to iRacing is targeting two completely different groups of people.

iRacing goes for realism, the others are easy to play because they need to sell a lot of copies. Isn't there a rewind time in Forza 3 if you wreck? lol

  • Fair enough. My beef was not really with iRacing. My beef was with people's disdain for games like NFS: Shift. As you said, it clearly is not intended for simulator fiends who like to sit in silence for 30 laps. That is a different audience.

But it just gets on my nerves when the two camps hurl insults for no reason. They both have their strengths and weaknesses. Can't we all just get along?

    Bytheway, nice video. LOL.

  • МАМОЧКИ,хачу такой!!!

  • Why not try Live For Speed, it has a new view function to multi-monitor and has better image proportion/perspective

  • видюху ему надо помощнее )

  • too bad he's racing a crap game

  • Too bad downer pricks like you can't remember the post isn't about the game but the screens it's running on.

  • I would love to have just one of these monitors... but they are $6,500 straight from Ostendo's website. The price needs to come down significantly IMO.

  • Ya if I can get a 5970 and three 2560x1600 monitors for $2500 less... I'd go for that.

Oh well, OLED will eventually bring a good and affordable version of that.

  • for that price you could build your own race car and go do it in real life lol

  • The game aint running smoothly at all... And i agree with the outrageous price of those screens... You could get a 30" screen and a good graphics card for the price of one CRVD.

  • Shame its running such a shitty game too. They should use a real sim like GTR 2 or rFactor.

That setup would be great for flight sims also!

  • what is this witchcraft? O.o

  • is that need for speed shift?

  • I bet these are really good if you're into chubby porn.
