And one other thing - this song seems to perfectly describe the plot of the 2000 Italian film "Malena." The title character (played by one of my favourite actresses, Monica "Not a Replicant" Bellucci) probably felt the exact same way as the singer - she was absolutely fed up with the world seeing her as a mere sex object, as it caused others to see her as less than human.
@Scifimaster92 I enjoyed that movie very much. I agree with you. It seems like she couldn't get away from those assumptions people were making about her. Granted, she was delicious to look at. It's a shame that the majority didn't see her as a human being.
Electric Cafe is an underrated Kraftwerk album due to its thematic and musical departure from their established formula at the time, but was just as groundbreaking for its time as its predecessors, and had just as much heart and soul put into its development.
Sex Objekt and Heimcomputer are simply the best tracks in electronic music EVER. Kraftwerk have always been ahead of time. Tell me honestly, who else can make violin sound this good ?
I never heard this track before, how funny - Kraftwerk complainig about being 'sex objects', still, its probably true to say that they fall into the catagory of 'thinking woman's crumpet'!!lol Seriously though, its quite a different sound to what I'd expect from KW, quite a departure - I love this, thanks for educating me:-)
@Liz66bee I was wondering something similar. This song and "Das Modell" (which seems to take an "All in the Family"-type approach to the issue of objectification of women) make me strongly suspect that the group's member might have been pro-feminist, and may have incorporated this philosophy into their song lyrics. (Not that there's anything wrong with that - in fact I consider myself to be pro-feminist.)
This has to be what it would sound like if Arnold Schwarzenegger ever decided to record a dance record. Just add a few "and these kinds of things" and "things of this nature," and you have the Guv'nator!
No, seriously, the original Kraftwerk lineup should get back together again. Does anyone know why everybody but Ralf Hutter left?
I think Wolfgang Flur left because they were needing him less and less as a drummer as the rhythms began to be played automatically. Karl Bartos left because he was tired of the band's (Ralf and Florian's) perfectionism and slow production. And I don't know why Florian left, I think it had something to do with too many live shows for him.
@MarkusAudio yes. i remeber they got lots of critiq for only using 8 channel recording. but what the ****. its their best album. havent heard anything like musique non stop yet, so ahead of their time.
@AndrewTSq I personally feel Computer World is their best from start to finish, but all of their albums are great, and this one is highly under rated. It has stood up well against the test of time and was well ahead of its time, especially this track, it is awesome!!! I almost skipped this album b/c of the stuff I'd heard about it, but I am VERY glad I didn't skip it!
this is a rare treat from them, it's fusing the new sound and the really early violin driven one, it's not just the robots, these guys were about Electroc cafe was the best LP

Seems like one of their most instrumental sounds since the Autobahn album. It almost sounds a bit country-ish at some parts.
