Well its in natural minor... So it sounds a lil out of tune, but it is cool if you play it in harmonic minor. Can't say it's exactly funeral music though
Why the hell can I not find the ORIGINAL PACHELBEL'S CANON? Let alone in D Minor. Honestly, what's with all these noogais coming up with this piece and thinking, "YO DAWG, LET'S RUIN A PIECE OF MUSIC BY ADDING DUBSTEP BEATS TO IT! IT'LL FUCK EVERYONE ELSE UP!"
Hmm, it might sound better if it were actually in minor instead of Aeolian mode. I love modal music in general, but I feel like major V chords and stuff would improve it (i.e., melodic minor instead of natural, or maybe harmonic if you wouldn't mind the Klezmeresque feel of the augmented seconds). And yeah, it was interesting how it sometimes sounded like it could be F major.
To people who say it's horrible or sounds bad - Minor is supposed to sound messed up lol It's not some walk in the park with pretty flowers on a lovely summer day with birds singing and sun light every where. It's supposed to be dark, mysterious, painful.
I thought it was beautiful until I heard missed notes at 0:58, 1:10, and 1:22. Then I quit listening. This wasn't played by humans, so there's no excuse.
The harmonic structure is just perfect ! I wondered how horrible Canon could be with Dm-Am-Bb-F-Gm-Dm-Gm-Am, but you chose another way ! This is good and so nostalgic !
it sounds scary but kinda cool. i like the origional better but this one has an interesting sound. do u know where i can find the sheet music for this version?
What is interesting about this piece is that it is sounds tragic even in major. Minor key gives it a very different flavor, rather unusual but certainly effective.
hey, it sounds good, but the parallel version to d major is b minor, sorry. d minor is the parallel to f major, not d minor. it doesnt work like that, you cant just add on a minor to make it different, the key sig. is still different.
@WalrusFlavoredTomato As a music scholar, I must point out your comment is in error. D minor is parallel to D major because both scales have the same end points. Parallel keys do not as a rule have the same key signature. What you are referring to is RELATIVE key, which has the same key signature, but different end points.
@21stCenturyRebel I wholeheartedly disagree. Pachelbel's original canon in D Major is so immersed in the feeling of beauty and enriched life, that the minorized version is so fittingly enriched and over taking experience of the sadder part of life. I wanted to hear Canon, but I knew the method of my emotion at the time, which is a time very close to this moment, so I searched this. I'm very glad that I found it.
Very lovely sound thank you for this arrangement. You've inspired me to arrange it for solo piano though in C minor for a slightly more bitter sweet sound. I'll post it in a couple a weeks when I'm done=)
@ViciousTeddyBear09 If the piece is a midi file: Open new GB project Open a Finder window and get to the midi file Drag the midi into the main GB pane Open Track Editor (scissors symbol in lower left) Otherwise: Open new GB project Record a note (so you have a track to work with) Open Track Editor Take that 1 note and move it around to change pitch, copy-paste to add notes, lengthen, shorten, etc.
@ViciousTeddyBear09 BTW in Track Editor, I find it simpler to use Graphic View (notes shown as rectangles on keyboard layout) than Notation View (standard staff notation).
@jazzgator5678 get dvd videosoft program its free and you can download video into mp3 files its amazing just type in dvd videosoft and you should get it
Man! d major sounds like you are in a peaceful world on the other hand d minor sounds awesome also cuz it sounds like you are ready to fight for your life! BOTH ROCK
It sounds more like it would fit a tragically misunderstood "villain". Someone who was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. Its weird that thats what comes to my mind when i listen to this...
The minor key gives this whole thing a very tense atmosphere making a well-known thing something compleatly new and very very interesting. Although I prefer the original version, this one ist great, too ... but (and this ist just subjective) too upbeat...
@Grave187RIP13 imo, it ruins the song... pachebel didn't just write this song, he wrote it, put all his emotions in it, this version took away all the original emotions. If he wants a dark song, he should write a song himself, imo, transponating it is so easy..
@SimonIsSuperHot Well you are certainly entitled your opinion and I'm not going to judge you for it. Personally I love both versions, I just think this one is unique and I like this one more.

Not to be insulting but your chord progression is off. It SHOULD be Dm, Am, Bb, F, Gm, Dm, Gm, A. This doesn't really resolve the way it should.
