It's not as bad since you live upstate so the rent and cost of living is cheaper. They're bargaining for higher top and starting pay right now too so that it is more on par with NYPD.
The starting pay is ridiculous at $25,600 dollars. The educational requirements are even more ridiculous, requiring 25 college credits instead of 60. It looks to me like someone inept is managing these fine officers and those seeking to join.
