Islam during 16th century Philippines is a mixture of pagan beliefs. People worshiped the nature and myriad of gods and superstitions. The chief god was called Bathala. Lapu-Lapu's religion is not well thought off. He was very notorious with the rajahs this is why Magellan was asked by the rajahs to do something about it. Lapu-Lapu was said to be an Anito-worshipper.

@chongpo - I don't think they're exactly lies, its just some people prefer to feed their hunger for nationalism than to actually search or facts. There's also some historians who believe the arrival of the Spanish here in the Philippines is to continue the 'reconquista', the Crusades fighting the Muslims. Many people in the south believe this version of history, this is one reason why the fighting there for a sovereign Islamic state continues. Its ridiculous.

And yes they speak Visayan, Malay.

It's just a bastardized Christianity which is actually a continuation of Roman paganism. @Sanbev Spain is a thief nation and has to give back all the golds, land and treasures they've stolen from the P.I. When they came here, golds didn't have to be mined, you will just pick them up in the rivers or practically everywhere. @thedecagon According to the chronicles of a French tourist Jean Mallat in the Philippines written in the 1800's, he noticed that the Spaniards being sent to the P.I. were nothing but outcasts bums, low class. They brought, gave examples and introduced corruption and all sort of bad habits to the Filipinos.
