One of the two remaining ship sail back eastward to Americas. But was captured by Portuguese in west Indies. The last one that reached Spain from the east have more than enough spices to fund three more expeditions. That's why King Philip 2 commanded the colonization of the islands.
@ML678v yes it was his original name, but he changed his name to a spanish name because he was working for Castilla, you gotta learn that instead of talking bullshit!
@ML678v I meant "Fernando de Magallanes" you meant that right? or you mean "Ferdinand Magellan"? in that case his name is just translitered, he is well known with other name here in the Americas : "Hernan de Magallanes" .
thsi guy is a corse,,,he should not found the philippines in the first place...he the sourse why phillipines today inherit the corrupt culture and greed attitude of the parasite spanish...go to hell spain
@thedecagon - That's terrible. I'm a Filipino and it's really embarrassing when my fellow countrymen blame other people for their problems while living off their influences. First, its not Spain's, America or even Japan's fault why our government is corrupt. We've been independent for a hundred years, no one is duping our country but ourselves. Is Spain, United States and Japan corrupt today? NO! If you want to look for the problem start at your own way of thinking.
@chongpo - Rajah Humabon and his wife were said to be Muslims. The title rajah comes from India which means royalty or monarch.
Islam during 16th century Philippines is a mixture of pagan beliefs. People worshiped the nature and myriad of gods and superstitions. The chief god was called Bathala. Lapu-Lapu's religion is not well thought off. He was very notorious with the rajahs this is why Magellan was asked by the rajahs to do something about it. Lapu-Lapu was said to be an Anito-worshipper.
@emmthreejonny hehe i just realized now.. rumors telling me lies lol tnx :D but before Magellan come to Cebu and Mactan im wondering if they speak bisaya or Tagalog? >.<
@chongpo - I don't think they're exactly lies, its just some people prefer to feed their hunger for nationalism than to actually search or facts. There's also some historians who believe the arrival of the Spanish here in the Philippines is to continue the 'reconquista', the Crusades fighting the Muslims. Many people in the south believe this version of history, this is one reason why the fighting there for a sovereign Islamic state continues. Its ridiculous.
@emmthreejonny Even if Catholicism did not spread in the P.I., real Evangelical Christianity would come anyway during the American rule. Catholicism is not even Christianity. It's just a bastardized Christianity which is actually a continuation of Roman paganism. The Spaniards sent here were nothing but scalawags, outcasts, bums, diesteros, low class, plebians, gay and maniac friars and all sort of bums thrown out of Spain to the malaria infested Pacific territories.
@emmthreejonny yeah! those Spaniards should be blamed. Aside from stealing our golds and treasures, they brought bastardized Christianity a.k.a Roman paganism to this country. Haven't you notice almost all former Spanish territories are 3rd world countries? Roman Catholicism is actually a scourge just like Islam.
@Sanbev Spain is a thief nation and has to give back all the golds, land and treasures they've stolen from the P.I. When they came here, golds didn't have to be mined, you will just pick them up in the rivers or practically everywhere. Lands were confiscated from the natives and were turned over to Spanish low class, bums, outcasts, convicts and criminals. This make me wanna kill every Spanish I meet in Philippine streets.
@thedecagon According to the chronicles of a French tourist Jean Mallat in the Philippines written in the 1800's, he noticed that the Spaniards being sent to the P.I. were nothing but outcasts bums, low class. They brought, gave examples and introduced corruption and all sort of bad habits to the Filipinos.
@CrushedJustice yeah he was hurt with a spear and then the islanders started jumping on him and attacking and he died this is what my history teacher said happened
