  • this is so boring, i would say you need to get out more... but dont. stay inside and shut the fuck up :)

  • Just had a look at your channel... nearly pissed myself...

  • My annoyances:

    old people driving very slow

cyclists on thin roads with heavy traffic

In both cases i overtake as soon as the minimum possible gap emerges.

    996 turbo :)

  • Overtaking is fine with me, but doing it safely isn't just about the amount of space ahead of you; keep a lookout for side-turnings, especially as many people don't look left when turning left out of a junction.

    Thanks, nice car :)

  • A better title might be "my pet peeves about other motorists".

On the point about not holding your brake pedal down at a red light, note that it's not legal everywhere to do as you suggest. If you were fooling with your headlights behind me, I wouldn't have a clue what you were on about.

  • @g7dude9

No it isn't illegal to blind the motorists behind with your brakelights, but then neither is switching off dipped beam while stationary.

Good driving is about using common sense, and that means paying attention to the affect you have on other road users, maybe you'll consider if your brakelights are causing any discomfort in future.

As for your title idea; maybe, but they aren't 'pet' hates, they are examples of genuinely bad driving.

    Thanks

  • I find one of the most selfish and dangerous things people do on the motorways, and it happens often. Is when a car is in the outside lane at a steady speed, so you go to overtake. To find when you are passing them on the right they decide to speed up, from preventing you from cleanly overtaking. Really riles me up a treat when people do that.

  • @ld309

Yes I agree, this is also how traffic jams are caused; it is really is best to keep speeds as steady as possible, and it uses less fuel too of course.

    Thank you

  • I like this though will say if you do another narration (your voice seems well suited to it too) hang some duvets up around you and it will control the room acoustics and make it clearer with the BG sounds.

Good video giving it 5 stars

  • I was behind a Volvo driver who thought it was safe to join a fast moving motorway traveling at 30 mph.

  • Yes that is annoying, so many drivers don't understand what the slip-road is for and fail to gather speed to match the traffic; pretty dangerous really

    Thanks

  • Good video, sometimes the voice over isn't loud enough vs BG.

I like your points, the brakes at lights also annoys me (specially because of automatic cars).

I noticed 2 brake lights and 1 fog lights before you even mentioned lights, and I saw at least 10 today when I was out.

I will defo give a few others this link and made it my favourite, I think more people should read these points, so many good ones that i've always moaned about. :)

  • I forgot to add that I am surprised that this only has 600 odd views in a month, hence why I will do all the favouriting, facebook proliferating etc and all that stuff.

  • Thanks, I will be doing another video like this one soon, I've only got a few of the points accross I wanted to make. I agree, the voice isn't quite load enough in places, and I could have written it a little better too.

Thanks very much for sharing this, I am pleased that you agree with the points :)

  • Great movie!

  • Paul , very True on this video 5 Stars for you Paul, 1 ) what Gets Me are the Delivery people UPS Drivers Park everywhere Blocking the Path around the UPS Trucks People Walking can,t see around the truck. or 2) walking People Press the button to walk accross a highway, the buzzer and walk light lights WALK so you almost start walking and people turning left when you have the walk light they still go almost Running into the person crossing the road

  • continued.... we have 4 Roundabouts in Town easier Walking but in a car some people don,t know what to Do in Roundabouts.

  • People who don't know what to do with roundabouts shouldn't be on the road, how do these people pass their tests... ? It amazes me.

    Thanks Pam

  • yeah true and they look at you as if saying What???? Pam. Your Welcome.

  • constantly breaking to keep a steady speed down steep hills is actually what I was told to do by my driving instructor..."breaks slow and gears go!"

that said, I do actually agree entierly with you and selecting a lower gear is much safer and less penisy

  • The brakes are much better on modern cars, so it is thought unecessary to use the gears, but this still gives the wrong message, and will boil the fluid.

    Well done pcp

  • nice vid paul!

its like i have said to some people of whos car i am a passenger. if in the back seat and i put my seatbelt on, they say, 'what, dont you trust me?' and i say 'not at all i trust you with my life! its every other driver im worried about!'

mind you, thats not happened in years because as a taxi driver i never wore my seatbelt, its the easiest way to get mugged :-s

  • I insist people wear their belts in my car, it is me that would get pulled over.

    Thanks Derek

  • ok maybe it was 2 strong !!

  • No worries

  • more like whts your problem!!

  • Eh?

Why are you calling people nobheads - is that necessary?

  • shut the fck up u nob head

  • What's your problem?

  • First of all, your driving on the wrong side of the road, but I guess you have to, since all the cars have the steering wheel on the wrong side...seriously though Paul, this was very educational and I think the DMV should make people watch this whenever they want to renew their license

  • Hello Tim,

Driver education can be lacking, the instructors show just the minimum to pass, and then most go on to forget it all

I'd been planning this video for a while, I have quite a lot of other stuff to cover, pity that most of it applies to the UK

    tHANKS :)

  • Super video Paul very educational.

  • Thank you very much, Kel :)

  • Drivers who think that 'it's ok for me to park here because I've got my hazard lights on' really annoy me.

  • Thanks, me too :)

  • Yeah i've seen instructors up to their naughty habits its not good! my instructor was briliant teaching wise , but an awful driver whne i passed she got so excited she nearly had 2 accidents!

  • That is daft!

I had two instructors, but it is a long story so I will save you of it

    Thanks Gem :)

  • I hate bad drivers. I've seen some stupid idiots on the road. People who don't indicate and people who ride up your backside are the ones I hate the most! I've been cycling for a few years now so I don't see as much stupidity now.

  • Thanks Gaz, glad you've noticed what people do wrong. You don't drive either do you?

  • Not now. I scrapped my car a few years ago because it was falling to bits and I never bothered getting a new car because I got used to cycling.

  • Was it a Vauxhall Corsa?

  • For "Why do people use their brakes instead of the hand-break?" That's because 'apparently' it uses a tiny bit less fuel.

  • Hey MMB,

Using the brakes uses more fuel, when coasting the engine is ticking-over, even though the revs may rise - that is why engine braking works

  • Yeah I knew that, that's what I remember someone telling me and I was thinking ... NO! lol

Really that driver in the Audi going down hill could even just let his car roll if he wanted to save fuel. I can't remember though if it was in the dry or wet ... if it was dry then yes he should have really.

  • The Audi wouldn't have been trying to save fuel, but to stop the car from going too fast, that's why I said about changing down a gear - it would stop the car from speeding up

  • I haven't been with it recently ... I'm ill ... not much of a excuse lol.

I don't know what I've been saying and what it's about totally untill I've looked back and it's bubbles Paul, just ignore me if I try to explain again lol.

But yeah he should have changed down a gear and seeing it was on a hill it would have made him go slower.

    What a kurfuffle! LOL

  • Thank you for giving the biker space.

    Excellent video.

    Am familiar with Church Crookham.

    J.x.

  • I always make room for bikers

    Thanks J

  • Great Video Paul !

    5*****

  • Thank you Tadek

  • cool video!

  • Thanks Melissa

  • very good this should be shown before people take their driving test!

I know what you mean about modern cars and their lights, my dads 07 renault laguna is just a moo to recognise in teh dark because i cant see through his lights to read the reg number! and instead i get blinded coz it also covers the car itself...so i have no idea whose just pulled up alongside the pavement :P

very well done thought i love it!

  • Hello Gem,

People who are taking their test are already driving reasonably well; it is those who've had their licence for a while that become complacent - some them anyway.

However, I have seen many driving instructors making stupid mistakes too, can't wait to catch them in the act

    :)

  • Your skills at producing videos have reached perfection.

Always keep a camera rolling in your car.

It keeps you mindful of your own driving and

comes in handy in traffic court if some idiot

    does something...idiotic.

If you get pulled over and ticketed unfairly,

smile, accept the ticket politely and as you drive off

add something like, "would you like to change your

story, officer?" to get a chuckle or two when you play it in court.

  • Hello Tom,

I had the same thought myself, the camera will make me behave better, though my boy racer days a good few years in the past.

The police are good over here though, at least they are from my experience.

I will keep the camera on of course, there is much more of this kind of thing to come.

    Thanks

  • Drivingyarns

You have hit on something very promising here, Paul.

How about "funny traffic moments" as well?

  • The only problem with it, is searching through hours of boring driving on video, it's typical - people don't misbehave when they are being filmed

  • AWSOME Driving Vid Paul :D

  • Thanks alphasimaed

  • Paul, you are everywhere.

If anyone should be a partner, it should be you.

    Your imagination is endless.

  • Wow thanks, that is a cool comment :)

I think though, for the very fact that I do an awful lot of varying things, it could be the reason partnership still evades me; if I put all of my time and effort into guitar I probably could be there now, but I get bored unless something new is happening.

    Thanks M.

  • great video pual

    you have 3 channels now/

wow, 5 stars loved it! :)

some drivers rteally are just so dumb at driving especially old ladies lol

  • Hello Julie,

I have 4 channels, as videos with this don't belong on gardenspoon, my guitar channel or the vlogging thing.

Don't pick on old ladies - you'll be one some day (ha ha!!)

    Thanks :)

  • Another great video !

    5*****

    Thanks for sharing

    Keep Smiling

  • That was quick! Thanks Mary :)

  • You sure like cars and everything to do with them! Great video, Paul - one of your best.

  • Thanks, Jon,

It has taken me quite a while to put this together so I am very pleased that you like it

    :)
