you have to understand that dorsett always had to share carries throughout his career, early on with robert newhouse and ron springs, later with timmy newsome and herschel. It was part because of his slight build, and part because in the days when teams ran a lot more and didn't have to worry with free agency and a salary cap, it was just more common to have more ball carriers.

i agree. dorsett had over a 1000 yards in every season he played except the strike season of '82 when he still had well over 700 yds. herschel was good but he wasn't needed. agree.
