That's a crowd that misses David. No disrespect to David Gilmour, but David Bowie has a very large audience that misses him very much. Great to see you again Mr. Bowie!
What a lot of people here don't realize is that this song likely has personal resonance with Bowie. In the early seventies he released an album of cover versions (PINUPS) of songs he listened to when he was younger and being influenced by pop songs. One of those songs was "See Emily Play" by Pink Floyd - same vintage as Arnold Layne, another PF hit song, so he no doubt listened to it as well. I notice he sings this one in a similar way to the way he sings "Emily".
Amazing.... David Gilmour, Richard Wright AND David Bowie performing a song from one of the greatest musical geniuses the world has ever known, Syd Barrett.
The grea tribute to Syd is that you could see Bowie really enjoyed singing that. Even thought it wasn't one of his songs it sang it as if it was. That shows what agreat song writter Syd was that his tunes are so universal.
Bowie once said he did not cried when Mercury, Lennon or Mick Ronson died, all good friends, but he cried when Wright died. That shows how much this band means to him.
That was great to watch. David Bowie has the most credibility to sing Barett's part I can think of and watching Wright (god bless him) recreating his original solo was wonderful. Thanks for posting!
i can't understand the idiots that are always saying "the original is better" and bla bla. i think this kind of performances doesn't pretend to be better or worst than the original, it's just abou have a good time with great artists like bowie and gilmour having a good time with fans playing classics like arnold layne or any other.
@lesassassins Totally and utterly agree with you. Also when people compare one guitar player with another. When they play totally different styles of music....NUTTERS
I mentioned this on another clip but I,ll say it again. why isn't rick wright's name mentioned here. its especially ironic considering the fact that he's the only person on the stage who actually played on the original recording of this song. david gilmore hadn't even joined pink floyd when they recorded this.
Sounds good with Bowie

For those unfamiliar with Bowie - He's been a big fan of the Floyd since their early days. His version of 'See Emily Play' is outstanding.

Got to like D.G.'s choice of guitar on this one... true to Syd's style. And the organ sound... pretty close to the original! Love it!

Arnold Lane is a perfect song for Bowie. He could have penned this one himself during the Ziggy Stardust Era.
Good stuff!

Why should he? He was still alive and playing here. I doubt he even knew he was ill.

I don't think even Richard knew he was ill at that time..that was back in 2006.
