If you list your cell phone as a possible contact number on any type of purchase information, There's a possibility you can be called.Especially if it's the only phone number you list. I once called a guy who was out in the middle of a lake fishing. Keep in mind, the perwson on the other end of the phone has NO control over which numbers are called. They just pop up on a screen in front of him. He has no idea hown many times you've been called and by whom.
THe problem is that when toy go to your bank, apply for a credit card, or do any on-line shopping. Unless you specifically request not to be put on any "contact me about new product" lists, your name goes right back on .
It seems the govt wants to help telemarketers. Look up Q&A For Telemarketers & Sellers on the Bureau of Consumer Protection web site. It is written FOR telemarketers looking for loop holes!

I worked for a telemarketer and their thing was calling for non profit agancies to ask nieghbors to pass out letters of give donations. Supposeively non profit agancies are exempt form the DNC list.

@EvilDuckyLord I used to work at a call center innocently doing market research for a couple years. It was my job. However I also understood the disruption my call might be to the receiver. Telemarketers or solicitors are still intruding on busy, overwhelmed, broke, and often unhealthy people. You expect your callees to be nice to you? Your job is merely a distant cousin of a telemarketer. Sad but true.
@researchfiend I expect my respondents to have a modicum of common sense. There is no excuse for the negative reactions I receive as a market research interviewer. Nobody is holding a gun to their head and making them answer the phone. They always have the option of just letting it ring. As well, if they feel they must answer, all they need to do is say no to two or maybe three little questions and they are off the phone in ten seconds.
@researchfiend It is their own fault if their lives are disrupted by our call, as they chose to not ignore it. I feel no sympathy or empathy for them at all if they are rude to me or explode in anger. They do it because want a target for their anger and think they don't have to feel guilty about abusing "telemarketers".
If someone is polite to me I will gladly remove them from the call list or suspend the call for a later time. If they are abusive to me, I hang up on them.

Most this stuff on this video works just the national DNC list doesn't apply to things like bank telemarketing where you have an account with them and political campaigns but even then they will usually have there own DNC list
Do NOT Call does not work. Telemarketers use the words like " Survey" or "Polling" like the politicans and their campaign organizations use to pester our privacy. You can tell scammers you know they are scammers with their "lower your interest rate on your credit cards" gimmick. Our government's leadership is BS on both sides of the aisle.

Nobody is holding a gun to their head and making them answer the phone. They always have the option of just letting it ring. As well, if they feel they must answer, all they need to do is say no to two or maybe three little questions and they are off the phone in ten seconds.

@researchfiend It is their own fault if their lives are disrupted by our call, as they chose to not ignore it. I feel no sympathy or empathy for them at all if they are rude to me or explode in anger. They do it because want a target for their anger and think they don't have to feel guilty about abusing "telemarketers".
If someone is polite to me I will gladly remove them from the call list or suspend the call for a later time. If they are abusive to me, I hang up on them.

@ShelleyWorld There was a case I saw on the NEWS really.... Guy ends up quitting job and starts working from home sueing telemarketers! I thought it was the funniest thing until I saw this. I guess it does work but im not sure if you can sue tons of people when you start getting a reputation you know but I guess it can work once or twice!

Most this stuff on this video works just the national DNC list doesn't apply to things like bank telemarketing where you have an account with them and political campaigns but even then they will usually have there own DNC list

Do NOT Call does not work. Telemarketers use the words like " Survey" or "Polling" like the politicans and their campaign organizations use to pester our privacy. You can tell scammers you know they are scammers with their "lower your interest rate on your credit cards" gimmick. Our government's leadership is BS on both sides of the aisle.

Actually I got a call yesterday and said "I am sorry but its against my religion to deal with phone sales of any kind - our religion explicitly forbids it". Its weird but it works cos they are not allowed to interfere with belief systems and they cant change your mind and they know it if its a strong belief - how would they know? and they never question it cos they cant prove it and dont understand it really. so far foolproof cos it shuts them up.... the lady just said 'ok, i understand sir...'

I had someone who called me tirelessly even after requesting they remove me. After that I advised them the number was on the do not call list and advised them that I can seek legal measures if they persisted. Didn't get a call since.

Instead of doing all of this stuff even tho the call list is free just play like you are mentally ill or stupid and they will leave you alone for ever. Just act like you do not even understand a word they say. thanks for posting this video. I used to be a telemarketer and lost my job due to the National No call laws and cannot get another job. So I have had to go on welfare since I cannot get any kind of a job and now have no income. People who are working are going to pay all my bills now.

No, you don't live like a parasite because of the National no call laws, you lived like a parasite before those laws (most telemarketers are parasites anyway), and still live like a parasite because the best talent you have is stretching you hand and say "gimme", instead of getting some education and looking for a decent job.
