Hey, does anyone know the name of this dance troupe? The moves look familiar--but they don't look like Whitey's Lindy Hoppers (the dancers in Hellzapoppin').
My Dance is Cuban Salsa, but I do preciate this also. Music is soft yes. I'd rather hear the orignal music. But this dance is so funny.
I never heard anything about this, but when I came in Lithuania, someone told me about it. Here its pretty popular. Amazing. I Love the original 20's 30's 40's music.
Great stuff but hilarious video! I was reminded of watching (UK) ITV in the sixties/seventies on a Saturday afternoon with Mum and Dad, when we saw lads like (Steve Logan - possibly!!), Jackie Pallo, Mick McManus, and Kendo Nagasaki (among many others) doing these sorts of moves - only thing was, the show was the 4 PM wrestling programme, hosted by Kent Walton! Lol.
@pooryorik3 It's from "Boy, What a Girl" in 1947. Third lead is Leon James. According to @twobarbreak 'the last couple Is James "Blue" and Crazy Jessie, they won the harvest moon i beleive in 47 or 48.' These dancers are all from the Savoy Ballroom in Harlem. Some were in the legendary Whitey's Lindy Hoppers.
The music dubbed over this clip is rather odd. (No offense meant.) Check out the other copies on YouTube for the original soundtrack.
The only official Reference is "Negro Cast".

Lots of white kids would sneak out to the forbidden zones down south because they loved the new sound.
