  • awesome video I've always loved EM-1s its a shame what happened to them...and i had to have two of the models bachmann put out

  • These would have traveled the CVSR (Cuyahoga Valley Scenic RR) line into Akron then south to Wheeling The last scene is a junction in Akron

  • The very last scenewith the coal/water tipple is in Akron on the old B&O. THE FUELING STATION STILL STANDS!!!!! It's off Eastland Ave

  • @MarkCox73 I will post a short video response soon!

  • Nice! EM-1s worked the grades both north and south of Chardon, Ohio until just before I was born. Unfortunately I missed them, but my family sure loved them! They worked triple-headed with pushers and crossed our road about a mile from our farm.

  • Great video. I see Bachmann is offering a model of the EM-1. Pretty tempting...

Thanks for putting the video up!

  • Excellent footage. Thanks for sharing it with us. Love those big Articulateds.

  • I first learned of the EM-1 when Bachmann announced the HO Scale Model of it. I plan to purchase one. It's good to see a film of the prototype.

  • @barronzm Fantastic Video. My Grandfather was a conductor on the B&O Line. The EM-1 is an icon. Thank you for sharing this fantastic video.

  • Not just the B&O's greatest, but one of the greatest steam locomotive designs ever. With all roller bearing axles, the finest boiler equipment, a high speed suspension , they were the pinnacle of heavy freight steam design. EM-1's had enormous fireboxes and boilers and could produce well over 6000 HP at the drawbar. They were fast too. Capable at running at 80 mph, the B&O even used them on express mail trains, replacing two 4-8-2 locomotives in the process. Too bad none were saved.

  • Fantastic footage of B&Os greatest locomotive ever.
