"Howard, can we stop this guy?" "He'll nooooo. Did you see my last game against him? He came from the left, right, center, and from every $&@in direction. I have nightmares ever since. We have no answer. We should stick with 11 back, and assign two to three on him. Wait, that will leave Gio and Vela open. Coach, maybe you should put another goalie in my place if we should make it to the final. Either way, you are out coach."
Even if USA's football sucks, and most of their players are foreigners (like Agudelo, he's colombian) I have to admit that they're doing great and I hope they become a lot better than the lame world cup in 2010, for the sake of the millions of latinos and europeans that live in the USA and love the beautiful game. Which name is football and not soccer.
@bigbirdgrappler60 But too bad that'll never happen for Canada. To choose to wear the maple leaf is tantamount to accepting that one will never sniff the World Cup. At least with the USA, he's guaranteed a spot at the party.
I love how every time the US wins or draws against an opponent it's luck. Oh sorry, Luck or cause of Tim Howard. Peoples annoyance at the fact the US team is legit now is hilarious.
@hworkdedication ...of course they got lucky...and yet, if chile was that much better, they would have scored again...chile has great history, coming in third like 50 years ago, and yet, has LESS world cup showings than USA (8 vs. 9); against a country that didn't even have a professional league until 1996...te gusta el sabor de eso taco?
@agriculturaltrading why usa has more world cups than chile?, cuz in South American World Cup Qualifiers you have to play with brazil, argentina, chile, uruguay, colombia. venezuela, etc.. a REAL qualifiers.. in north america: usa vs mexico, and THERE IS NO MORE COMPETITION.. creo este taco sabe mejor!
im a big fan of the USA soccer team, but idk if they'll have a change beating Argentina on 3/26/11 thumbs up if you dislike Argentina when it comes to them playing soccer.
Maybe in foreseeable future teams from all over the world can compete annually, for instance European teams compete annually in Champions league. Such an event would not only be beneficial for the American economy but a global economy as well, after all soccer is the worlds beautiful game.
It just puzzles me why US is not getting the message that soccer (football outside USA borders) is the world’s game, not the American football. No one cares about the American football outside of its borders. Why don’t American people realize that Soccer is a great opportunity for the American economy.
@1987jasko we are, soccer is becoming more and more popular. I expect the next world cup will have a great number of americans watching it. btw we're not asking for other countries to play american football, its a national thing and u guys shud mind ur own business
Its a shame that the national team was not broadcasted on at least one American channel. Countries in Latin America and Europe fill town squares to watch a national team play, but in America they can’t even air it on the sport channel (ESPN). But they can air high school football and baseball crap all the time.
@CockAnBallz please it was a perfectly good call, and the US had the most shots and control in the game so you're just retarded. If anything they got unlucky from only getting a tie.
@ABR1090 no, not everyone is on the Boonburee bandwagon. I see our "future" dancing on the sidelines like a couple of fools after kicking a easy PK that came off a dive. They can act like the game ended up 1-1 and everything's fine, but reality is they got no real shots on goal. I'd just like to see them be a bit more humble and focused, or else they're REALLY going to get embarrassed in a real game vs. a real country's first string team. And yea, I'm American if you're wondering
@CognizantCheddar .....Somebody need to watch the game USA /Ghana in 2002 and check the penalty against USA ...Oooooh that is a clean penalty.....?????
First of all, you're also insinuating that the USA didn't play with a "3rd Level" team.
Secondly, I don't know what you mean about "Not wanting Latin last names". Bocanegra, Gomez, Agudelo, Torres, Reulas....Those all sound pretty "Latin" to me.
Thirdly, you are implying that the USA doesn't already have the best team in the world. Haha. I'm kidding now, but everybody knows our time is coming.
First I see people saying that the penalty was good well it wasn't he fell on purpose an also if America had thief best players it wouldn't make a difference first off if we chilenos had our best USA would die insanely we have alexis Sanchez wanted but top clubs in the world and he is only 21 Humberto suazo won the Mexican cup we have matias fernadez scored the final goal vs ARGENTINA which USA would never accomplish even if they had there best just come to show we are one of the best countries

@sierra3daction Dude, there was no penalty. PERIOD. I'll take the call and I'll take the tie, but you have to agree that there is no way that was a penalty. The ref was horrible he made so many mistakes that day...but at the end of the day we didn't lose.
@minotaur2006 It was a penalty, light hit but a penalty. Even if he didn't dive, it would have still been a penalty. I agree that the ref might have been on crack or something but it was a reasonable call.
@tottithebeast this is a spanish channel, and espn is too busy showing tennis from australia and their sportcenter, give props to the channel for actually televising the game, and the game was also in english if u went on espn3.com
@Amire92 As an American, I'm glad he decided to play for the US, but I do feel bad for the Canadians. COME ON YOU FULLHAM!!!
I don't understand how we Americans can be too excited about this...didn't get any shots on goal and the only score came off an obvious dive that even would've made the italians proud. C'mon Agudelo, no need to roll on the ground and pretend to be in pain...that's not the American way.
@welcometourf cuz right now its looking like its going to be our "future" for forwards n right now the pool for players up to isnt as strong as it was n he's still young, alot of young players look up too plays who have do that to get calls, its just how football is at times look at the world cup or epl this season happens all the time, cant really blame him

StevenTacle 1 year ago
The foul wasn't flagrant (looked accidental to me), but that doesn't make it not a penalty.
- The Chile defender's outstretched foot DID make contact with Agudelo's foot and missed the ball completely
- it DID happen within the penalty box
- without the trip-up, Agudelo WOULD have continued to offer a play on the ball
All that means it's a penalty-kick. Period, full stop.
Could Agudelo have perhaps regained his balanced and stayed on his feet? Maybe. But that doesn't matter, legally.

@welcometourf maybe you game highlights and not the video that has "Teal Bunbury Goal" in its title

I wish Bob would of started Teal and Juan in the first half. Would of definitely been a different game in my opinion.

I don't understand how we Americans can be too excited about this...didn't get any shots on goal and the only score came off an obvious dive that even would've made the italians proud. C'mon Agudelo, no need to roll on the ground and pretend to be in pain...that's not the American way.

@welcometourf wait... we did get shots on goal though...

@welcometourf We only had 4 shots, but all of them were on goal. Quality of the shots over quantity of shots, I guess.

@panchobulla138 Too bad, it was 1-1. Oh and it should have been 1-0 not 2-0. That "dive" was a fail.
