he retired in 1978 because of shoulder injury. He was 32 then. He only had one catch in career.

Actually he didn't retire in 1978. He spent the entire 1979 season on injured reserve and then retired. The Eagles were gracious enough to IR him in 1979 after he was injured in the preseason so he would have four seasons on the team and thus be able to get his NFL pension.
