One of the teams could do that, but then when music tours & other major events come to Toronto, where would you want the event to be at? The Minneapolis-St. Paul area is facing those challenges.
i m from india.here we don`t have any established sport.forget about about professional one.so we usually tune into epl for soccer or to nba for basketball.after viewing this video i must admit that many indians like me are actually lazy even to do our regular work.i would like to applaud all these gentlemen for the hard work they do which gives the platform for public entertainment.
@mkjhagfv you like this vid then you might want to checkout the time lapse 2010 nba allstar game where the cowboy stadium(football field) is converted to basketball court
It would be funny if condensation occurred and the court became slippery. Conversely this is why some times ice conditions become bad after a different event was on it hours before. Ice gets too soft so the puck creates odd bounces and such.
Im sorry but whoever told you that converting the ACC takes 8 Hours for NHL to NBA it takes about 4 hours, I work on the ACC's different event Change-outs
So Basically the raptors play on hardwood, Rubber mats and Ice? Amazing Lol Thanks for the vid i never knew it took 8 hours too turn it into a b-ball court.... Its smaller then the hockey rink..
Àbsolutely bietufful. NHL and NBA is a natural fit. My 2 favorites sports. Anyway having 2 differents arenas is not nessesary when it's like that, it reduce the coasts. That example the Maple Leafs and the Raptors are in the Air Canada Center and it's verry hot.
Almost all do. The key is to design an arena that is great for hockey sight lines, but cozy for basketball too. I feel the Staples Center gets an F for this. Remember how no one liked NBA games at domes. Well that 's what they basically did. The old Boston Garden to me had the perfect layout and should've been modeled for today. Not a bad seat in the house for anything, including concerts.
On rare occasions, the minor league hockey team in Indianapolis (the Ice) plays at Conseco Fieldhouse. Conseco also used to host an arena football team. But instead of having to install temporary seats for basketball, a section of seats just retracts into the wall. I'm sure that makes conversion a lot easier than at Air Canada Centre.
When they take up the ice floor what are those tiles made of? Is there ice on top of those tiles that they melt after the game? Is there ice under the tiles that they leave there all season? What about concerts and stuff?
it takes them one day to do this?

What do they do with the ice? It would be expensive to keep it cool during the entire basketball game.

And how many arenas do convert like this one?
iwbtssothy 4 years ago
a lot of the arenas is major cities do this...
as a lot of these cities have both nhl and nba teams share an arena...
but not only that, many swmaller arenas that hold less than like 10000 people do this also,
